I love the Postal Service but imo the acoustic versions of their songs are so much better than the originals.

This set specially is one of my all time favorites and among the best of Ben's performances. Man, was he in the zone!

Btw, Lawson, memories of the Kintsugi tour concert for me will always be bittersweet for me, as I was going through one of the best and worst times in my life. I bought four tickets, 2 for the one in Spokane, and 2 for Portland, which I only made the latter, alone after numerous “friends” promising to go, and none showing up. Still had a nice time. Other DCFC fans at shows are always friendly and like family.

Fully agree Mike but if I understood what Ben says at one point he was doing two shows in the same evening. I might be wrong but I think that's what he said.

It annoys me that people don't recognise 'We Will Become Silhouettes' until he starts singing it!

One of the best live recordings in a long while. He kills it as a solo acoustic singer.

It was recorded nearly 10 years ago, but even so it is one of my favourites, tied with Radiohead's In Basement recording of In Rainbows.

I'm so glad that DCFC is still a relatively new band, compared to most of the music that I listen to. Ben Gibbard will still be around for years, until I'm as grey and old as all the other musicians I listen to. I have full faith in Ben Gibbard continuing to produce good music for many more years to come. Can't wait to see them again.

This is my all time favorite recording of Ben Gibbard. He's my favorite artist and this recording never seems to get old.

I just met Ben Gibbard earlier this week on the Death Cab Kintsugi tour. I am literally having trouble functioning this week because I can't believe I actually met him and was able to talk to him. His work means so much to me and I had to listen to this to try and get over what I'm feeling.

You guys, I’m literally in tears right now. This band and their music means so much not just to me, but some of my best friends. When I lived in Portland, OR we would travel all around the PNW to catch many of their shows. I’ve seen them twice in Bend, OR, which were a couple of my favorite shows. Probably my all time favorite wasn’t even the one that fell on my birthday in PDX when they had the orchestra, but actually the Transatlanticism 10yr anniversary show at Edgefield in Troutdale. They flawlessly played (like they always do pretty much in concert- sounds just about studio quality) the whole album beginning to end. But then I went nuts, as he announces that they’re starting the second part of the show with some favorites from the other albums. He starts with I will possess your heart, and I’m jumping up and down screaming like a madman bc it’s probably my very favorite, “THE STALKER SONG! THE STALKER SONG!!!!.” Great times!

+MaxMorerTDWC it's called Tape Loops. It's 5 long songs that are looping sounds from tapes he cut and spliced together. People have mixed opinions about it, it's just so different from everything he's done with Death Cab and the album literally says nothing, it's just looping noises.

+Dean James Adshead He said Chris was doing fine, pursuing his own creative endeavor, honestly a pretty surface level response. If you haven't checked out Chris' newest album you should, pretty relaxing. That's really cool you got all those things, I can't believe I forgot a picture, for all my friends know I'm lying 😄.

Can only agree with you Quej and Christopher. I listen to this every day at the moment. In addition to being a great musician, Ben comes over as being a very decent bloke.

Why did Ben say "Such Great Heights" was written by Sam Bean (the lead of Iron & Wine)? Was he making a joke about how people keep thinking Sam did the original version?

I had to pirate a cut up version of this since NPR no longer offers this show. And yes, best versions of SMB and BNC.
What city is that in the photo? Cause...I don't think it's DC. Seattle?

agree with you on soul meet body but the album version of brand new colony is in my top 10 songs.
