  • Google Stadia is here. Stadia marks Google's entry into AAA gaming via a new game streaming service. Google says you'll be able to stream game titles up to 4K 60fps on your smartphone, tablet, laptop or TV (via Chromecast). Is Google Stadia the future of video games? Are you ready for a completely online gaming experience?

I do not know how they plan to have people disconnect change devices and continue right where it left off but this would mean essentially they have a way to suspend the game with instant on a feature or they are leaving the game running in the background while you're disconnected. This could have scale and quality of service issues as active game sessions come online and stay up over 1000's of players.

this is an old concept. nvidia did this like 5 years ago and it was a flop. Same thing will happen to google cuz no one recognizes them as a gaming plat like Xbox or PlayStation.

As much as I would already like to pay for this, I believe I already potentially have this streaming stuff when it comes to my Surface Tablet, my Xbox One, and the future feature xCloud. Yes, you can even use your own console as a streaming server if you wanted to. But that is just something I have heard while watching the 2019 Microsoft E3 Briefing.

Xbox Doomed? 😂 Not at all! Xcloud is already the answer to that! On the mobile side Google Stadia is only exclusive to the pixel. Xcloud can be used on all mobile devices. Google Stadia is only stream based so if the server goes down your SOL! 60fps at 4K res on a stream ain't gonna happen for everyone based on internet speed. They better hope 5G is gonna do what it's supposed to do. Xbox will have the cloud service and the gaming system to use and it will be cross platform. Google is finally getting there feet in the water with bigger titles instead of just the playstore, so we all know when something brand new is released there will definitely be some bugs to fallow. Google has a long way before they remotely doom Xbox or PS4!

I'd still rather have a disc cuz if something happens to google or if you have no internet you can always play single player with no lag at all. Plus this Stadia thing means Google can shut your games off whenever and call me paranoid but I don't trust google

I'm going with Stadia fk consoles every 5 years and pc gpu. If someone don't jump on this train someone missed the part no developers limit. We can be God's at making games not limited by a box. I'm in.

I heard that on xCloud, you'd get to use your own Xbox console as a streaming server to play games anywhere with a Wifi connection.

It not going to work first you can’t off line game you lose 25% of the market than every 2 year it cause you a PS4 240 if they keep their subscription at 10 plus you buy your game online if anything wrong with your connection that how she row sound good but I am not paying google to collect my gaming behavior

This system is a joke. You have to have the content... period. I have over 200 games on my xb1x. If you think ppl are going to just toss theirs away when new systems are backwards compatible then you need to just quit uploading videos lol. Nice clickbait headline though... You got me to comment.

I don’t think stadia dooms consoles personally, I love the idea of it but it takes a lot to stream great quality. I hope it brings gaming to others but definitely don’t fear xbox or ps4 dying especially nintendo with most of their library being exclusive.

More like Google is doomed. You have to pay 10 a month to get a console standard like 4k. And on top of that buy the game at full price. Then you have to have a stable internet connection and most of them have a data cap. What about the offline gamers?

Still interested to check it out, but the concept makes zero sense. The demographic are basically people who are ready to pay full price for games
they don't own but can't afford a proper console even though they pay for fast internet :O)?

RE: Your comment about India and China. They're both approaching internet parity with the US, at least in the larger cities. The Indian government has made fast, cheap internet a national priority, and China is investing heavily in its own internet infrastructure.
The US/Canada have the slowest and most expensive internet in the developed world. US ISPs are throttling speeds even more in the wake of the net neutrality fiasco. It'll be years before a service like Stadia has mass viability in the US.

Anyone remember Onlive? Anyone remember how it flopped? Or that sony one that I can't remember its name? Personally, I want my games, maybe I'm a grandpa by today's standards, but I prefer to have my own game catalogue with no subs and, if it's available, have it on a physical format.

If I am not allowed to install my old PC games that is on a DVD or CD Rom disc to a Google game server in order to get improved performance and graphics than I will not be interested in Google cloud gaming. The whole idea was to play both old and new PC games without having to own a expensive gaming PC

Nvidia shield have done the whole streaming game service well so far in my experience, at times a little laggy when Internet falls now and again but majority of time works very well. So I think its definitely the future streaming on any device, making gaming so accessible. I think Google might have a few niggles to start but may just crack the gaming market before xbox and Microsoft cloud. But eventually this is the future of gaming folks, instant, accessible, high resolution and frame rate games at your finger tips.
