We had dinner at that Texas Roadhouse about a month before this. We tried to get into Lambert's but couldn't take the wait in 95 degree heat. We were staying at a campground in Cape. Lambert's was on the bucket list. Oh well, next time.

Good rescue here. But why was there no patrol officer on the scene steering traffic away from the shoulder? At least to be present alerting people to the incident ahead. That would be prudent safety for everyone

I think the American style sirens doesn't work that well, to locate the direction and speed compared to two-tone German ones. We got two different style of sirens on the vehicles: street horn and country horn. The second one is usually air driven, different frequency and substantially loader.
Emergency vehicles here in Germany switch to the second one if they want to cross a intersection at high speed or if somebody fails to make room. There's not such a thing as road noise or music, when this siren blasts in your ears from the truck behind your car 😂
Maybe you want to look into getting one of these? 🤔
Here's an example how they sound:

It's not strange seeing towing companies running code. In Illinois, we have an entire towing company in the northeast area by Chicago that's funded by the Illinois highway and toll system. The only lights they have are red and a few green. Those things are even more noticeable than a firetruck as they're bright red and the airhorns on them put an apparatus to shame. It's good to have code 3 capable towing companies to get the highways cleared and safe. Love the work you do, stay safe out there.

I am a former trucker, due to an injury, on the job, I had to give up my CDL license, unfortunately, but, I am glad I never wrecked and never needed a tow truck with the rotator to pull me out, never Jack knifed I was always very careful, made plenty of stupid mistakes but never hit a low bridge or rolled over, just minor shit, haha, from NOT paying attention, of course a 4 wheeler cut him off, and just kept going, I had a lot of close calls with those 4 wheeler idiots many a time, thank Yahweh nothing ever happened, just luck and skilled driving, sheesh!! Keep on trucking Man!!

like with all large vehicles any small vehicle
can out run them on short runs but when you get on a long long strait road the large vehicle will catch and leave the small vehicle out of site
