Pills to wake, pills to sleep
Pills, pills, pills every day of the week
Pills to walk, pills to think
Pills, pills, pills for the family
I spent a year suspended in air
My mind on the gap, my head on the stairs
From healers to dealers and then back again
From guru to voodoo and voodoo to zen
Pills to wake, pills to sleep
Pills, pills, pills every day of the week
Pills to walk, pills to think
Pills, pills, pills for the family
Pills to grow, pills to shrink
Pills, pills, pills and a good stiff drink
Pills to fuck, pills to eat
Pills, pills, pills down the kitchen sink
    I'm behind the wheel
    I’m leavin’ your state
I can’t even swim in these waves I made
From the bath to the drain, and the plane to the stage
To the bed, to give head, to the money I made
Pills to wake, pills to sleep
Pills, pills, pills every day of the week
Pills to walk, pills to think
Pills, pills, pills for the family
Pills to grow, pills to shrink
Pills, pills, pills and a good stiff drink
Pills to fuck, pills to eat
Pills, pills, pills down the kitchen sink
I heard the tales, fortune and blame
Tigers and wolves defanged by fame
From the chains to the reins to the vein
To the brain, anyway there’s a day
And I’ll pay it in pain
Pills to wake, pills to sleep
Pills, pills, pills every day of the week
Pills to walk, pills to think
Pills, pills, pills for the family
Pills to grow, pills to shrink
Pills, pills, pills and a good stiff drink
Pills to fuck, pills to eat
Pills, pills, pills down the kitchen sink
Pills to wake, pills to sleep
Pills, pills, pills every day of the week
Pills to walk, pills to think
Pills, pills, pills for the family
Pills to grow, pills to shrink
Pills, pills, pills and a good stiff drink
Pills to fuck, pills to eat
Pills, pills, pills down the kitchen sink
Pills to wake, pills to sleep
Pills, pills, pills every day of the week
Pills to walk, pills to think
Pills, pills, pills for the family
Pills to grow, pills to shrink
Pills, pills, pills and a good stiff drink
Pills to fuck, pills to eat
Pills, pills, pills down the kitchen sink
Come all you villains, come one and all
Come all you killers, come join the war
Come all you wasted, wretched, and scorned
Come on and face it, come join the war
Come climb the rafters, come out to space
Come for the answers, throw them away
Come kiss me stupid, come kiss me sore
Come find me standin’ under the wall
Come all you killers, come out to play
Everyone you know will all go away
Come all you wasting, wretched, and scorned
Come watch me standin' under the wall
Come all you children, come out to play
Everyone you love will all go away, hey, hey

This is a litrle art pop gem. Like an update of classic singles by great 70s acts like Rozy, Queen, Fox and Bowie.

  • Aubree Gallucci

No. Just no. This is garbage. The only thing acceptable about this song is the brass at the end. Unfortunately there are horrible moaning sex vocals prior to it and the whole track.

    • Dylan M 2
      Dylan M 2 3 months ago

you'd probably like her album Actor or Strange Mercy more. i recommend The Party or Just the Same but Brand New from Actor, Dilettante or Surgeon from Strange Mercy. This album was very Bowie influenced, art pop inspired, really wrote it to empower herself. Not her usual stuff. Or Digital Witness, lot's of brass in that one.

  • Garry Dalrymple
    Garry Dalrymple 3 months ago

Very nice, she sings well and with purpose, but listening to her sing 'Pills' is a bit mind bending, as 'Vincents' used to be one of Australia's most popular Mother's-little-helper drugs of choice (APCs) and their over use responsible for an epidemic of kidney failure.

i skipped st vincent, who i've still yet to see play an actual set, a few months ago after giving the record a very brief listen and finding essentially nothing of value in it at all. i'm coming back to it now as a last chance, and it's just really not remotely in my sphere of interest, at this point.
hopefully, she finds a way to put the pills away and get her brain back. but, that's not how this usually works.
that is my takeaway from this record: annie clark's talent has apparently evaporated due to drug use.

Do you really think Gucci gang is one of the best songs of the year? I am completely confused. How can people listen to that song next to a kendrick song, or even chance and think it is any good. Am I missing something? I understand why it was popular but it is the kind of track you have given a bad review for 100 times over.

is it ok to say that St Vincent really doesn't have all that much talent as a singer or songwriter? these are some of the most dated cliched lyrics i've ever heard, and the music is incredibly banal and original. i'm sorry i've been trying to like her for years bcs she's seems so cool, but the fact is she's just not very good.
