The problem was not the children, it was that she had to stay at home, take care of them and please her husband whenever he wanted and repeat the routine day after day with nothing else to do. If that were the role of men, would they accept it? And for the record, I am a man.
    Excellent movie.

Another boring British movie. If only the UK film council and BFI would actually make something entertaining. Occasionally they do, most the time it's period drama or this sorta shite.

I believe women are not sent to the earth by God to be just a mom. If woman is a house wife then it's the job of the husband to make sure that her wife gets her free time atleast once in a year. This is a very beautiful movie and it's theme is very good.

I absolutely love seeing a film showcasing an aspect so many women goes through but often shadowed. I’ve watched my mum becoming someone’s wife and someone’s mother all the while her identity as an own person and a woman with dream and goals and aspiration of her own slowly erased. She was such an amazingly cool woman when she was younger, something I as a fellow woman would admit. Then she got married and had me and my brother and had to give up her career and dreams. It takes so little to be considered a great dad and so little to be considered a shitty mum and over the years, I saw the toll it took on her and if I ever had the chance to go back in time and meet my mum, I’d probably say, don’t get married don’t have kids and live your life and fulfil your dreams. Being old and single isn’t always a bad thing.

It doesn't seem like she has any "adult" time for herself in this's just wife and mother, mother and wife. Every woman should take some time to enjoy being a person. Go have a glass of wine with friends once in awhile, take a class, enjoy a hobby, go sit in the park or a cafe and read a book...go to the library and read a book, go watch a movie, take a vacation where it's just you and your partner. If you don't take time to be 'you' then it's your kids who are gonna pay. And remember if you don't take that time and you leave for good you have regulated your children to a life of "why wasn't I good enough for her to love me".

Beautiful message of our western society : don't have kids, don't get married, die alone after an empty life where you contributed for nothing but you own pleasure. Meanwhile, in other countries people don't overthink, work, enjoy simple things and know their place. Western civilization is dying and we deserve it.

Don't start something if you can't take on the responsibility. Being a mother means putting your children's needs before yours.

  • Sweet Raw Healing
Sweet Raw Healing 4 months ago +1

Why in hell do humans still believe that popping out a few children will magically make the happy?? Happiness comes from within. From yourself. Putting the burden on children to make you happy is ridiculous. People need to spend some time alone to learn who they really are and why they are here on this planet.
Postpartum depression and any kind of depression is directly connected to the thyroid gland. If that gland is acidic, genetically weak and stressed the person will lose calcium to buffer the acids (acidosis). When this gland doesn't function well you will start to feel lonely, sad, unhappy - all these dark emotions, instead of being able to accept the now, appreciate every sunray and every singing bird. The only way to truely cure depression is Regenerative Detoxification.

I know what acute depression feels like -- I'm a terrorism survivor. BUT, this film justifies running away from responsibility. It's also appallingly sexist.
Reverse the sexes -- it wouldn't work when a man does it because women simply don't care about men, or how they feel. A man is a drone, with no rights, just responsibilities.

Running away from your husband and kids won't make things better. He asked her so many times but she made him look stupid. Lmao i love how her hubby perfoms in bed every morning, i always laugh wen they show that part😎 but she still found a way to somehow make me mad. If you want something, speak up and tell ur hubby, stop making him look or feel stupid. Men have feelings too just like women do

...but true. Men are always expected to stay and "man up"...there are just as many women who run away and don't pay any support or visit their kids but we're supposed to pat them on the back and say "well it's brave to know when you can't be a mother".

Escape what? ur kids? ur life? and go where? people get tired yes but their children are every thing... women who leave their kids well they loose EVERY THING because their kids never accept them again. those women run from their lives bcz they made it monotonous ... at the end they chase a fantasy not realizeing that the most precious things in their lives was something they left behind. there has NEVER been a single incident where they've come out on top when they leave their husbands and kids ever... not because the society or people around them break them but they break themselves after realizing what they decided to give up or something that wasn't even real. I've studied many cases. its never worth it. The husbands should be recognized in these situations where most certainly take them back and even help their wives steer through the deep end in other cases if ego would prevail then the outcomes very tragic as you see a perfect family torn within days that its surreal.
