As much as I enjoy the chats with cast and director on this movie, I fear that the cracks in the traditional support structure for parents and grandparents in Asia may be all too real in 2019, Its sad to see the way older people have been allowed to fall through the cracks in many developed economies, but particularly so in countries like Singapore, HK and South Korea. I was stunned to see a documentary on the homeless in Singapore - one of the richest countries on earth - and especially when it showed older Singaporeans who had worked their entire lives forced to find somewhere to sleep at night. Completely unthinkable when you realise just how much money Singapore spends on public housing. We have a homeless problem here in Australia - growing larger each year - but for someone who has only visited Singapore as a tourist it seems like the most sanitised, state-sponsored place on earth (far more so than mainland China, IMO). Fortunately, there are people who care and I hope they can overcome something we've started to accept as a fact of life in far too many 'rich' countries. tvclip.biz/video/3XVuSZubN3E/video.htmltvclip.biz/video/u47NU4B0Yco/video.htmlThe very idea of spending weeknights on the streets because your HDB flat is too far from your workplace seems absurd, but I guess there are different versions of 'homeless' in a country with Singapore's incredible work ethic. tvclip.biz/video/A9jyfJEnM4s/video.html(FWIW, there are worse places to be homeless than tropical Singapore - I was stunned to see homeless men huddled in a pedestrian overpass in Seoul, another city that just seems to incredibly rich from the time you get off the plane)
Loved the movie. On a random note, what is up with the pretend dead animals on the wall.....
These women are smart and gorgeous.
Love it all! Except the reminder of dead elks and deers whom I love and don’t want to see them on walls.
I value you! I am SOOO tired of the same thing over and over!!! I am looking forward to this movie because I want something new!
loved the film. I even understood many of the nuances of Chinese culture and language. Nora Lum is such a New Yorker, HA!
This is not an Asian story but simply a human story. 💜❤
I never met my grandmother back in Asia. We left when I was one. I paid for my mom to fly back when my grandmother was sick to see her and she got to be there for the funeral. Pretty sure this movie is going to wreck me.
Sooo... is the movie on Dropbox? Lol :P
Awkwafina should be the next Mulan!
Ziyuan Liu don’t limit her! She can play anyone,!
Saw it today. It is heavy and honest script. U will love the movie.
Aquafina stole the show!!!
Awkwafina! My Father (only Son) die in Hong Kong (1964) and my Grand Mother was in San Francisco. She was never told that he had Die!Even after we came to America she was told he stay behind to watch over the house.Family is core of my being.
I’ve seen this movie-it’s absolutely amazing! The universal theme that each culture tells its own lies especially resonates.
I want to watch this so bad but it isn't showing in my area
Lalalalala! Give it some time-it may come later.
Honestly! I saw my Chinese family in every single actress and actor in this movie. The Chinese scenes are so accurate, so familiar.
Great trailer. I teared up as well. As for value. I love watching Asian cinema. China has GREAT actors. These days while Hollywood is churning out gunk, I'd rather watch subtitled films than watch even the "A-listers" are acting in, truthfully. Less bad language and sex - more drama.
Looking forward to seeing it!
Jeralynn Kozak It’s unbelievably amazing-travel to see it if you have to!!!!
Just watched it today in Auckland, I cried like a baby. It’s such a well-made movie. I really appreciate it.
Wow lulu could pass as akwa’s sister!
Beautiful. Latino and asian culture value family. Thank you. Downey California
Many blessings on your success, Aquafina! Keep rockin' on into your success, notoriety and career!
Awkwafina has the face of Mulan!
So important for Awkwafina to get this role. Now she won’t be typecast. She’s too talented to be the zany friend in everything.
Edward Creter have you seen this movie? She absolutely shines and won’t be stereotyped as anything other than an amazing actor.
On the contrary, the unwritten rule goes: one stereotype is shattered, ten others are created in it's place. Thus, instead of playing the stereotypical Chinese kooky girl, she has become the stereotypical Chinese depressive woman, a walking Joy Luck Club. Only much more so. That's as Tao as it's gonna get.
sparksoffyou same thing I thought. It such an unexpected role for her. And I think it's awesome.
I was really impressed with Awkwafina's acting in the trailer for this movie. I'm not Asian but I think that regardless of what race or ethnicity you are the plot, emotions, and the style of this movie transcends all cultures and anyone can enjoy it.
I can't wait for this movie!
I cried twice watching the trailer :,) .
amazing. can't wait for this film!
More films like this.
This movie was filmed I Changchun China. My hometown. Feeling warm.
Lulu and Awkwafina can be sisters.
ESPNGai Oh my gosh. That is what I thought too.
She really picked the right person to play herself 😌👌
ESPNGai couldn’t agree more, they have so much common
How is her English so good and she doesn't know how to say 老师 in English?
She's from New York.
Can someone tell me when this movie comes out in the cinema please
@Ben Bisogno thank you
I teared up in the trailer. Awkwafinas performance is surprisingly poignant. She needs to get an Academy nom for this. This is truly an A24 material.
Im already in love with the cast here..cant wait for the Movie ..its gonna be amazing
Just saw the trailer for farewell and I'm already so touched! Great work by all!
