The first gadget, I threw mine away. There's not real tuners tensioning the strings, so it sounds terrible. Also the fretboard isn't wood, it's wood painted plastic. I got mine from eBay for like, $8... so, I think I'll stick with playable instruments from now on

I saw a brass slide today that was actually only half a slide that turns on your finger. It's only the bottom that's a complete circle so you turn it one way and you can play slide, then you can push it around with your thumb and play normally. I thought it was pretty cool. And I actually have 2 of the string clipper/winder tools, one stays in my acoustic case, and the other in my main electric case. Really handy little tools.

I was assuming that the video was going to be things that all musicians would find useful. as a trumpet player, I can safely say that most of these were not very useful to me. I have a really nice guitar that my uncle gave me so I found a lot if that stuff interesting. I really want that ring just because it looks cool and it was a good idea. if you had said that they were ideas for guitarists then I actually would have listened mostly and cared instead of listening for things that other musicians would like. I also need to learn how to actually play the guitar before most of those would be useful. I wish I knew how to play guitar. that would make having a guitar worth it for me

I ran a competition a little while back and to enter I asked for imaginative ideas for the perfect guitar accessory.
The comment I chose as winner described a wearable ring/bracelet that turned so that you could transpose keys and find relative minors etc. I was totally sold on that idea.
Delighted to now learn that such a thing actually exists.

Hey, Robert, great vid, man! Voice sounds great. If I had to choose between my top 3 items you listed, it would be:
    1. Circle of Fifths ring (Whaaaat!?!?)
    2. Guitar headrest (I so need one of these for changing strings)
    3. String winder/clipper (Only because I already use Dragon's Heart Pure Guitar picks exclusively for my acoustic guitars)
Happy belated Thanksgiving, bro. Keep the music alive!

We picked family members out of a hat for Christmas gifts and on the back we had to write top 3 items and I listed 14 items with prices ranked in order. I need Fender locking tuners for my Tele, Fender 62 reissue neck pickup for the Tele, lots of Elixir strings, Fender hard case, I can go on and on. I think we all can right? It never ends.

That circle of fifths ring sounds cool. Unfortunately I don't know how to use it :D

    • Devon
      Devon 2 years ago

Mika Tarkela I got it, I like it, but it's kind of pointless. You kind of need to already know the modes and their order, then you line the bottom spinner and top spinner up on the same letter, say you want to find what note the mixolydian scale to a certain key starts on, so say you want it in D, you'd spin the top spinner five letters up (including the nite you're starting from in the scale and that's the note it'll start on. For example you'd find out the mixolydian scale in the key of c starts on g.

I got one of those string cutter/winder combos last Christmas and I love it. I highly recommend it for every guitarist. Cool thing is it has a specially designed end to help take out the acoustic peg things. Makes it much easier to get those out to change acoustic strings. Also your voice sounded good to me.
