  • In this van tour we're checking out Clare's beautifully crafted campervan conversion! She spent over a year designing it down to the millimeter and now lives and travels in it full-time. The van is a complete tiny home - with a kitchen, toilet, shower, office, and bed, all in a vehicle that's just 6m long! #vanlife

Tanya Marler-Ball I think it would be annoying having the fridge under the bench you’re prepping food on, as you’d have to get everything out before you start and leave it out until you’re done and hope you don’t forget anything... just my opinion anyway :)

What is the gross vehicle weight? Did you beef up the transmission or suspension?
How did the weight change the factory milage estimates?
      I love the shower toilet!

Excellent utilization of space. Beautiful woodwork.
I live in a 36ft GULF STREAM Sun Stream Hi Rise. I've been living in this coach for more than 20 year's. I have remodeled and painted to suit me. I know it's "store bought" but I've done enough customizing to suit my needs. I've torn out all of the carpet and replaced the living area and kitchen and hallway to the bedroom with hardwood floors. I replaced the floors in the bathroom and bedroom with ceramic tile floors. I've had home's I the past but I'll never go back to a conventional housing again. I'm in Los Angeles and I'm in a trailer park. A studio apartment is $1,200 per month I'm lease locked at $565 per month that includes water, trash, electricity, and gardener. The only thing I have to buy is propane. I have a 25 gallon separate propane tank that will last for 3-4 months. I don't have to move the coach, just take the tank and have it filled. If possessions are important to you the RV or bus conversions wouldn't be a good choice. Space is a commodity and you're going to use every bit of it for essential things There is some space on the walls for artwork etc. I'm planning on another upgrade within the next 5 years. But I've been very happy with the coach I have and I only paid $32, 000 for it when I bought it. More than 20 year's ago. If you can't afford to build one from ground up you can find an older Class A or B that might fit your budget and needs. My 1st one was a 1976 Chevrolet Sierra 28 ft. It had 47k miles on it and I got it for $6,000 some people have found good RV''s for $1,000 to $1,500 you just have to look. Happy travels and trails to you!

Loved it all, makes up for all Tue morons that abuse land and live in 25k square feet of home where I come from. I would definitely consider one later when I'm alone. The only part I would have to bump out is the toilet shower combo bc I need a tub and I would want a clawfoot combo. Well done!

Such a beautiful tiny home and what an inspiration you are, Clare. I am 66 and the more I look at these types of videos the more I want to do it. I have to admit that it is very intimidating though. I have some health issues and while they don't impact my daily living, I fear I would just get going and then something else would happen, LOL! I am also not very mechanical. I mean, I flip the switch for the light to come on and if it doesn't and its not the bulb, I am done. I am sure I am going to downsize but need to work out the kinks. Like you, I have a 5 bedroom, 2700 square foot house on a half acre. Way more than a single woman my age needs. Hope you are safe out there and best of wishes.

Probably a dumb question. Where do you stay every night? A caravan park would be quite expensive. I know some who move from beach car park to beach car park every day. Are there cheap places to stay for a week or two at a time. Or do you just go bush?

People who have figured out how to live happily are just exemplary. They inspire me in a very sensitive way. Her disposition about life and her character displays a different kind of COURAGE and HONESTY. Life doesn't come easy and things aren't served in a golden plate. It is always wise to be practical and wisdom can't simply be READ but they are earned and applied. She's gorgeous and awesome in that sense.

The only thing that makes me hesitate is older people reach a point where they may not be able to retain their driver's license which brings reality to where you have to decide on buying land on which to park or sell and find other accommodations. Its a bit of a stretch for somebody who is 65 going on 75 which is where the rubber meets the end of the road with respect to driving, travel and maintaining health to retain a drivers license. Its just something that should be considered when it comes to the future and how you fit into this type of living.

I feel very sad for her. The van is great for taking off for a while, but not to live in. Where does her mail go and how does she order things off the internet? Where's the dishwasher, washer and dryer? How long will she be able to keep this up?

What an amazingly creative woman.....this van is so charming and so very unique. Her personality shines thru. Must say this is the best van conversion I've seen because it feels like a home and looks like nothing else. Even in the rain it would be such a cozy space to hide in. Can't wrap my head around how she was able to design it right down to the ml. Amazing job and woman.
