Embraer ERJ - dance with the industry. History and description

  • Published on Apr 3, 2018
  • Embraer Regional Jet or ERJ - a regional passenger aircraft family, developed by the Embraer aviation conglomerate in the 1990's.
The family includes basic commercial airliners and, indirectly, business jets and military modifications.
It is quite successful - by 2018, more than 1200 planes have been delivered to the customers.

These airplanes are graceful silent climbers. At cruise speeds they are noisy. But the safety record is good.

Worked on these for almost 20 years, best plane I've ever worked on. The aircraft systems where simple with mechanical backups and at the same time had advanced avionics and engine management. Still today, after working Airbus, Boeing, McDonald Douglas and Bombardier I still miss those 145s. Interesting tidbit for you, about the first 5 or so production ERJs where still mostly hand built. For example, serial number 4 practically had its own maintenance manual because of the differences and you couldn't take a panel off of it and expect it to fit any other airplane. Another interesting thing you didn't mention was the AE3007 engines where originally designed by Allison Engines. This is why it has the designation AE. The 3007s where a descendant of the AE2100 turboprop. So both the air frame and the engine where originally derived from turboprops. The original ER version included several parts with 120 and 123 part numbers. Great video!

Good video. You could have mentioned the CBA-123 project which was launched between the EMB-120 and the ERJ as a joint cooperation between Brazil and Argentina. The project was a 19 seater based upon the EMB-120 aircraft, like the ERJ, but with rear mounted turboprops. It was cancelled after 2 prototypes only were built and flown.

I just recently subscribed to your channel, I do like your videos a lot because generally they're very well-researched and nicely presented, but I've noticed that your narration is not up to par, and in this "Embraer ERJ - dance with the industry. History and description" one I'm only midway and already about to give up. Because I had to rewind too many times to figure out what you just said, and mostly I couldn't understand because it's that bad.
You clearly have some phonetic issues, and you should try and seek professional help from a phonoaudiologist. You sound like having recorded it after had eaten a very hot dinner and your tongue is out of touch with your speaking capabilities. Maybe to your friends that's ok or it is an acceptable standard in your native language, but to decide to narrate your videos in English like that you just inflict an additional burden over your audience.
Please, resort to use on-screen Character Generator (CG) only, or hire a real pro to do the English narration for you. The way it is now is simply unacceptably bad.
My intention was only to contribute, not to smear you. And I know I was rather blunt here, but sometimes in Life we should just tell it like it is, if we aim at helping to change the course of what's been done wrong, and it seems that's about time for you to improve it.
My truly best wishes and cheers!

Thousands of english native speakers watch the channel's videos and appreciate them, but it has to a snobby middle class Brazilian who comes to complain harshly about the narrator's accent. You aren't achieving nothing with your rude comment, apart from showing off your entitlement.

there were probably no fatalities directly on these planes but the mid-air collision was really sad. it is amazing though that the crew on that flight managed to keep it afloat for almost 35 minutes till they landed on a difficult strip!

@Flyer Killer I do C checks on the 145s every 5000 flight hours. The whole thing comes apart to a shell and goes back together with all new parts, all new seals, and just about every screw, nut, bolt and washer replaced. They can be a nightmare to deal with and work on, and certain airframes are hangar queens, but all of us ensure safety. I've personally seen aircraft not get released to fly over something not being quite right. For example one flew "left wing heavy" so we threw away both brand new aileron hydraulic controllers and installed new ones. Bastard flew like a dream afterwards. Better a few thousand dollars as 53 lives.
