@Red rocks Worship I hope you get back on your feet soon. A lot of folks are hurting and I think times are gonna get worse. You are smart in that you are trying to learn and not be caught off guard and not prepared. Knowledge will take you a long way. I am praying for you and your family. ~Sherrie in South Carolina

If you ever get the chance Oregon would be a good place to spend a week doing a few over nights in different areas from the beach to the lower cascade foothills to central Oregon desert camping. Lots of snow in central Oregon.

    I love watching this channel.
And I love camping out in bad weather, it's some kind of therapy for me to lay in a tent or a makeshift shelter while it rains. I think it makes the world seem futher away.

OMG, I am in the film business, and my dad was an amateur director and GODDAMIT you are doing everything WRONG!!! STOP HOSE-PIPING! Ie: Stop fast panning and zooming. AND for the love of god, you go ALL the way to the woods in MAGICAL wintry scenes and all we see is your FACE???? Spend 50% of the time looking at nature at LEAST. Talk if you must but get your face OUT of shot... There, consider yourself SCOLDED. Now GET BACK IN THERE and DO THE JOB PROPERLY.... (mutter mutter the youth of today ... mutter mutter... camera etiquette of an 8mm tourist... chew mutter fume)...

Gotta have my boiled coffee..That instant just does not cut the mustard for me most times. ( I do carry instant to add to the hot water many others call "coffee).Good thing about boiled coffee, in the warmer months you can net your grounds and keep a few sachets of those grounds near your face while sleeping, mosquitoes arent too crazy about coffee grounds, and ants and bugs will avoid them if you keep plenty of them around your food/cooking area.

I'll tell you a very short and 100% true story about "finding something neat" while just driving the old country back roads. About 15 years ago I was out driving the old 2 tracks in northwest Missouri, near Bethany. After travelling many miles down this overgrown 2 track I was surprised to see the 2 track abruptly open up into what appeared to be a divided 4 lane,(Still only dirt road, but definitely a 4 lane with 2 lanes width on each side of the open wide grassy divider). This 4 lane wonder went on for about a quarter of a mile and suddenly I could see a church steeple. Ended turning off the 4 lane onto a road that was 2 lanes divided by about a 4 acre wide park looking area. The divided road led me to a tiny little town...apparently long deserted, that was quite a bit overgrown with tall grass and weeds. 2 or three single building storefronts,(all emptied and cleaned out), what looked like a relatively modern (60's era),single level "school" complex built with red and tan brick, almost completely overgrown. No signs at all of any vandalism, completely locked up and secured...not a single broken window...Just entirely deserted. The school looked as if you could send in a few guys with a brush hog and some machetes and have the place back in business in less than a week. In my years of wandering I have come across similar places...though none as secluded and utterly abandoned and left alone as this.
On the northwest corner of "town" was the church...this was not some one room country chapel, but was instead built like a cathedral with all of the ornate and decorative brickwork , stained glass and huge doors that you would expect to see in a very affluent neighborhood in the finer rural areas just outside any major city...This building was impressive to see. Once again, Not one single sign of vandalism...not one broken window, stained glass or otherwise...locked tightly shut and inaccessible. As I have said before, I have found somewhat similar places in my past wanderings...but nothing that I have ever seen compared to this tiny town...Most places like this give you some kind of "feeling", whether that feeling is of past happiness or a feeling of dread and sorrow...This town gave me nothing but amazement. I tried to find the place again about a month later so that I could get photos and GPS Coordinates...but could not locate it..I have searched the internet as well as the library in Bethany...but have found nothing even suggesting that such a town ever existed. I have looked at satellite images on Google of the approximate area...and once again come up empty handed....Now THAT is what I would call "finding something neat".

I undertand that you have yt problems if there's any gun talk or show on your channel, but I bet that one goes with you. You are too sensible and aware to not take one. Me, I have no problem with using a sedative, earplugs, and sleep mask. I need all three to sleep in my bad at home. My 9x21 Sig P238 pocket 9mm, in a chest holster, means that even if my first inkling that something is wrong is my tent is ripped open, I'm still WAY better off than the unarmed guy who's sleeping with one eye open. That 9 has night sights and will be detonating in someone's or something's face within one second of the attack's commencing. I've got many thousands of rds fired on a timer, in high level competition, millions of dry snaps, airsoft and live rds fired. almost call of it concenttrated on superspeed inside 10 ft.

Luke....I tried to see if this has been asked already but what is the down jacket you're wearing on this adventure?? Thanks for all you do. Just ran into your basic training graduation trip video the other day. My son graduated in Great Lakes not too long after Maddy did. He's now in DC as part of the Navy's Ceremonial Guard. At 1:07 "low teens (a slight grin) and possibly some wind" (there it is, a boyish smile of anticipation that says this is gonna be fun). I finally figured out that is why I watch your videos. That you absolutely love doing this. I'm an old lady (62), a fraidy cat about camping alone and have never camped in a winter storm setting BUT I can't help myself. I am addicted to your videos. I enjoy hearing your stories, the way you are so honest and loving when talking about your family and that you seem like one of the most unpretentious people I've "met". And I do learn. I think my problem is that I need to learn to transition from taking everything except the kitchen sink TO leaving things at home that I probably won't need. I've got my go bag fairly light but camping I just don't listen and before I know it I've over packed. I'll learn and I think you'll help me learn. Thanks. ~Sherrie in South Carolina

Now, where was the budget portion? $60.00 (including shipping) for the sleeping bag? $5.00 at a garage sale is a budget deal. How much for the headlamp, $1.00 @ garage sale? I love the vid, the title is meisleading.

I am 75 now but as a youngster I had many many bare Knuckle fights and also did some Boxing with gloves. Then through my life I still kept training on the punch bag till a few years ago and yes it certainly helped destroy my wrists ,useing M14's,Bushmasters and Russian & 7.62X54R 150 aswell as 175 grain rounds didn't help my shoulders actually made me use both eyes and shoulders. I put Boxing as the main cause to my presentday pains ! Be Blessed. Nice Vid as always. Be Blessed
