Ok I’ve watched and rewatched dozens of these candy-making videos so far, it is still BAFFLING to me that the lumps and pieces he assembles end up looking like anything in the finished product, much less that they come out beautiful and intricate. It’s clearly black magic.

    • Lofty Pursuits
      Lofty Pursuits  Year ago +5

+spax the sergal At the core, the simplest way to understand it is to realise that the basis of the difference is the self and the other. Practices like the eight fold path is about finding your place within the universe and an equivalent of salvation through discovering self and the eventual abandonment of it (the state of Buddha). Christianity is the finding of salvation through recognizing the sacrifice of another, and emulating that sacrifice.
See watching a candy making video can help with school

I love baking sweets, and I have learned how to work with chocolate recently. It's challenging, and I'm still bad at it, but I think I can get better at it. Part of me is fascinated by how beautiful hard candy is. I wanted to watch these videos to see if I could imagine ever doing something similar to this at home.
    I can't.
The patience that is required to slowly finesse that huge log into tiny pastilles, I just don't have it and never will. The frustration I would feel if I messed up the design when trying to make the letters - that would be too much for me.
This looks like one of the hardest things one can do with sugar on a commercial scale. I'm impressed.

so i was so excited to visit a family member in panama city beach this last weekend. it was just my sister and i and we drove past Tallahasseeon the way there and on the way back i begged her to look up to see how far away we were and we were only 14 mins away so i was liek we have to go im sorry but we have to stop (it was a six hour car ride back home so stopping was frowned upon even by me but hey i was excited!) so we stopped and she refused to let me buy her candy but i had to buy something so i got tutti fruity candy and she keeps asking me for more! i knew i should have gotten her some! it is amazing! i was so excited to even be near there. let alone actually go in!

    • Shaffa Adam

i can relate to that, lol. I was watching the guy (Nick is his name, right?) strech the sugar on the hook. The whole time, i can hear Greg whispering in my head how Nick is adding thousands of tiny air bubbles into the candy as he stretches it and how stretching enhances the flavor and changes the texture of the candy.

Once you open them, not long. Mind you how can you not eat these?
