Hello everyone and Welcome back to Brink of Speed.
Please head over to www.motortrend.com to watch the footage in this video with sound. It is impressive! Here is the link. www.motortrend.com/news/how-to-use-launch-control-burnout-mode-2020-c8-corvette-video/
Today, we will talk about the C8 Corvette burnout mode that MotorTrend has just discovered. We will also discuss the Corvette C8 hybrid models that were spotted in Colorado for high altitude testing. The last subject that I'd like to discuss is the C8 Corvette convertible that will debut on October 2nd. There were a few of these mules spotted in the wild also.
I'd like to know your thought's and opinions on all three C8 subjects. Please leave me a comment in the comments section below.

The only reason it beats my C6 ZO6 it's because of physics the weight of the engine in the rear so it should have a better 0 to 60 and quarter mile but I will catch up to it eventually and go buy it for a better top-end

  • King Brent
    King Brent 28 days ago

****TO PEOPLE WHO RESERVED THE NEW CORVETTE C8 OR ABOUT TO RESERVE PLEASE READ THIS****
You will have to wait to receive your C8 as I live in Kentucky and I'm 1 hour and 8 min from the factory were the new corvette is being produced and the GM workers are on strike and it's not just the corvette factory it's every make that is a GM vehicle. So there is now a delay for the production so you may not see your corvette be delivered for a while. This is why I don't reserve vehicles as something like this can happen and a reserve fee goes down on the car and I have to wait until the GM strike is over. In this case the C8 along with other GM companies are delaying vehicle production. So sadly anyone who pre-ordered the new C8 is going to be waiting a while. I have a video coming out soon on the protest at the Corvette factory, until then though don't expect for them to get back to work as these employees are asking to paid more and if GM won't pay their employees what they're requesting the strike will continue.

I DO Love Convertibles... even if the weight and aerodynamics are not as good. I just enjoy the 'open air' experience... Also part of why I also Love Motorcycles.
BUT... I also do NOT like the buttresses, nor the covered engine. I think the engine cover MAY end up with a 'window' in it... but I Do NOT think the 'concept projections' are accurate, simply because of 'packaging' ... the space the hard panels 'disappear' into is already FULL on the Real Cars! Framework, Air passages, ENGINE parts and Hundreds of things that will have to be moved and re-routed... Just look at the videos of the Display Car that shows all the exposed areas of the frame and engine and overall construction 'under the skin'...
I would think it more likely the panels will end up lying flat over the engine (still blocking the view of the engine). Just guessing... (smile)
Also Hoping they will mount the rear-view camera in the left buttress, rather than some kind of 'bump' on the rear deck area... Because if it is still on the roof, it will disappear when the top goes down... and of course, the wiring will have to be routed into the folding mechanism and will be 'flexed' often with each operation.

  • Lenso Prezole
Lenso Prezole 28 days ago +1

I prefer the spider version because it is a lot more practical than the coupe/targa. When you go through a work area on the road and there is tons of dust in the air, with the spider you stop the car, press a button and your top goes up in 14 seconds. If you have the coupe, you have to go out of the car, open the trunk, etc. big problem. if you pass in the dust your interior of your 95 000 dollars corvette will be covered but f*cking annoying dust that will take you much time to clean up unless you're a pig that doesn't care.

    • bryan
      bryan 25 days ago

      What a load of cobblers
If you go through a ' dust cloud" from construction, pull the windows up,no need to worry about the roof,be it the coupe or convertible.
No dust will enter if the roof is up,and if the roof is down the air flow with the windows up will prevent 90% of the dust, and once clear lower the windows and the dust will be blown out of the car.

What impresses me more than a burnout or a convertable top, is the strength of the transmission. With that amount of weight bias, sticky tires and launch control, it takes a considerable amount of engineering to keep gears from spitting out on the road. Not to mention that fact that the higher horsepower engines have not yet been revealed for the car - perhaps the ZR1 engine with a geartooth stripping, axle snapping 700lb/ft plus going into it. GM have done well here!

    • Brink of Speed
Brink of Speed  28 days ago

I could care less about the childish action of doing a burnout and wasting a thousand dollars worth of tires to impress idiots that I have no relation to at a stoplight. Beating someones ass when the light turns green however means a lot to me, it means so much to me I'm waiting for the 800hp twin turbo flat crank that I'd pay 90 grand in cash for.

    • Brink of Speed
Brink of Speed  28 days ago

Mr Anonymous Ok, first of all, this new burnout mode is not for roasting your tires at a stoplight, in fact that would be impossible to do. You are going to be showing off with this burnout mode either, it would be quite the opposite. People would laugh at your attempts to impress with these actions. Itโ€™s made for one reason and only one reason. To briefly heat your tires for a great launch at the drag strip.

  • Rich A

Only reason a car needs burn out mode is because it doesnโ€™t have enough power to spin the wheels without applying the breaks ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

  • Tim Caron

I bet you itโ€™s just like the new Porsche 911 . It has a drift mode where you can pull both paddles which engages the clutch, rpms go up, release paddles and tires break loose. I bet you donโ€™t have be parked to use this feature. You know how they are saying it will be just like a manual and all the fun. This is why, you can now do a clutch kick with out a pedal clutch. Woot I canโ€™t wait for my delivery. Iโ€™m now a huge fanboy.

Not a burnout fan, and even if you're going to the track, with street tires, burnouts don't do anything to help with grip (some even say they make the tires greasy). At least that is what I've heard.

    • Brink of Speed
Brink of Speed  29 days ago

Chuck Grenci Yeah, you definitely donโ€™t want to do a long burn out at the track if you have street tires, however, itโ€™s not a bad idea to spin them a little to get heat in them.
