I had a hard time understanding why Mike Meyers was so involved in this whole Golden Globes thing. There was one scene in a movie years ago that was pretty iconic but why was he the one to introduce the movie instead of someone more involved (like Rami, Gwilym, Ben, and Joe? Or Rami, Brian, and Roger?) and why was he in on this interview? Maybe I'm a little salty because I just don't like him and his reputation as an a-hole is pretty confirmed...so many better options out there. (btw, loved the movie, saw it 4 times, already pre-ordered on Vudu)

    • TheaterPup
      TheaterPup 9 days ago

+Jenny Skaggs Because Wayne's World put the song Bohemian Rhapsody back on the charts, bringing in a new generation of Queen fans. Without that, the film arguably might never have been made.

I wish John Deacon was there or apart of the movie if not I would have liked to seen Sacha Baron Cohen play the part of Freddie Mercury but I enjoyed Rami Malek just as well only his shortness keeps throwing me off not to mention his constant looking up for height funny but off from Freddy's actual height with the other members. I loved how Rami speaks so lovingly about Freddie Mercury. Just beautifully put!

    • Angela Veršnik
      Angela Veršnik 11 days ago

Heights: Freddie 1,77 cm; Brian May 1,87 cm, Rami 1,75 cm, Sacha 1,91cm !!!!!!! Roger 1,79cm , John 1,80cm. Now tell me, how could Sacha play Freddie when he is even taller than Brian? Where would they find an actor that would be at least 10 cm taller than Sacha to play Brian. And other too, that were of similar height to Freddie. Freddie was just not that tall.

This has purely touched my heart. Rami is extremely respectful, humble and giving. I cried when he won. His genuine "Thank yous" and answers to all those questions are lovely to witness. I love how he tells the reported whom he took a picture with (well Roger took it, I'm laughing so hard at Rami's reaction) that he must hold the award as well. Brian is so gentle and kind, giving way each time for Rami to take the stage and answer the given question. Mike's words were beautiful. Everyone is just so gracious.

The fellow in the dark suit standing beside Brian May is one of the producers of the movie, Graham King.

Also, the fellow in the white suit is Jim Beach, Queen’s long time manager and also a producer of this movie.

    • Pand3Js
      Pand3Js 12 days ago +1

California Girl That’s Mike Myers, who played the role of the producer who did not want Bohemian Rhapsody to be the single. It was an intentional ironic casting choice because it was Mike Myers who insisted that Bohemian Rhapsody be used in Wayne’s World which subsequently led to Bohemian Rhapsody shooting to #1 in the music charts for a second time since its initial release. Mike is wearing the Order of Canada around his neck, which was granted to him last year.

I love how the critics try to take them down about how the movie was made but ultimately, if Brian May, Roger Taylor, and Jim Beach had ever doubted anything while filming they would have pulled out of it. It’s a movie not a documentary and they had to tell Freddie’s story in 2 hrs. I think the movie shows his ups and downs while being respectful of his life and I think Rami Malek did a fantastic job or portraying him on stage. One of my all time fave movies for sure!

They made a movie that shows Freddie's genius, and shows how they loved their friend, and they've said this in countless interviews and concerts over the years. Sometimes, in our old age, it still isn't easy to talk about the people we loved who died too soon. They also have the good manners to not try and upstage a young man such as Rami who just had his dreams come true.

So, when Phil Lord and Chris Miller get fired for improvising throughout the shoot, Star Wars fans attack them for “nearly destroying Solo” by deviating from the script, but when a director who is a complete piece of shit gets fired for abusing his cast/crew, refusing to show up on set, and just didn’t give a shit about the movie he was making, Queen fans just defend him for “making a film that’s about Freddie”?
Star Wars fans, Queen fans, both of youse and I need to have a talk.

    • TheaterPup
      TheaterPup 9 days ago

I'm not seeing any Queen fans defending him actually. Also keep in mind Singer wasn't around to cut the movie when shooting was completed.

    • Michael O'Connor
      Michael O'Connor 12 days ago +1

+Mr. Therapist Considering how long this film was in production, Fletcher did about 0.00001% with that timeline, but control over what got into the film was very important in this as they reportedly filmed far more that most movies do and thus cut more. Fletcher and the producers played a massive role, far more than the cancer that was Singer.

    • Mr. Therapist
      Mr. Therapist 12 days ago

Michael O'Connor Dexter Fletcher, the replacement director, only came to shoot two weeks worth of filming and oversee post-production, but he didn’t reshoot the entire film like Howard did.

    • Michael O'Connor
      Michael O'Connor 12 days ago

+Mr. Therapist I agree a lot of SW fans need to calm down, but I have no idea where you're getting this 80% from? It doesn't seem much like any of the Singer movies I've seen in the past.

    • Mr. Therapist
      Mr. Therapist 12 days ago

Michael O'Connor 80% of the film is Singer’s vision. Even after he was fired, it still remains his film. His fingerprints are there.
Meanwhile, Ron Howard reshot 80% of Solo after Lord & Miller were fired (despite that they didn’t even do anything remotely horrible in the first place), and took directing credit over L&M, therefore making Solo his film.
Because apparently having a flexible shoot and willing to improvise for the sake of improving your vision makes the film worthy of reshooting more than the film by an abusive monster who plagued his cast and crew?

Goosebumps moment; where Rami waves a gratuitous "thank you" & exits stage left just as in the same fashion that Freddie Mercury waived a thank you to a crowd at a televised music award show, his last time. It's interesting how both took initiative in closing the curtain of the show & personalities mirror eachother.

Carl Moore these press conferences usually only have one or two people answering questions after receiving awards. When it's a group like this it's always awkward. It also has to be fast too, because the next award winner is only minutes behind them... but in this case, the show was over, so they probably just wanted to go party.

John Deacon approved the movie (from what I've read). I imagine he is very proud since he was very much a part of the Queen legacy and gave us so many great Queen songs both hits and album cuts.

I don’t why they kept picking at the Bryan Singer thing. He’s a rapist, we all know it, and they don’t owe him anything. If he cared about this film at all, he never would’ve gotten involved in it. He knows that he’s poison. They made an incredible film in spite of him, not because of him. Rami’s response was perfect.

Yep! It's no longer Singer's film after his atrocious behavior. It's Dexter Fletcher's, it's the cast's, it's Queen's movie. I'm so proud of how far they've come.

At the end of the day, Queen music will be the song track for many lives. To have reached the ears of so many people over the world is phenomenal! X
