I’d like to see a video about how to properly remove the coating from new brushes (I’ve heard that you should soak them, but not get any water past the ferrule of the brush), and exactly where to buy brushes! I’ve had so many problems with brushes from art stores because people take the protective plastic sheathing off and bend and break the coatings on the brushes. I’ve had the worst time with art store brushes having bent and stray bristles and ruined tips on riggers and round brushes. I wish the store owners would just keep them all behind a glass case! 😂

@lj k I hope this helps to clean my brush i swirl wc brush in water jar and make an eight twice and swipe them gently against a flat surface (in case of bigger brush). I dry my wc brushes by hanging them upside down ,i take a bunch of brushes and tie them with a rubber band on the lower rod of a cloth hanger. The bristle part is hanging down in the air. This way water doesn't go inside the ferrule to loosen the bristles. Also I don't leave watercolor brushes dipped in water. When using acrylics i fill only an inch or half of the container which is specifically fr leaving the brush to remain wet till end of that painting session so not to effect the crimp, only the bristle part remains wet.

Thank you! I finally bought watercolor brushes and I immediately noticed a difference. The bristles didn't drip the water off. It became glossy instead as if it was holding the water. I also felt more control over the direction, size, and flow of my strokes ^___^ Thanks for all that you're doing!

I recently dusted off a chinese calligraphy set I got years ago and turns out the brushes work pretty nicely with watercolors~
So Mako, I was wondering if you'd like to try calligraphy brushes in one of your videos and give your opinion on them?
However, if these brushes' materials conflict with any principles of yours, that's okay too so no pressure.

natural hair brushes also need to be carefully guarded, if you don't keep them in an airtight container, bugs can get to them.
