Not trying to be a word Nazzi but it's ABINGDON with a "D."
I used to live in Tazewell County VA. I Would drive to Damascus 3 or 4 days a week to pick up a co-worker then drive to Abingdon or Bristol to work. My co-worker lived in one of the old stone houses built probably pre world war II. It sure is a beautiful area. That was back in the mid 80's. I lived in Charlotte in the 90's & I used to drive up through Mt. Ariy to Witheville & on down 81 to Bluefield then to Buchanan County. To home. The whole area is picturesque. I live south of ATL. now. I get up that way 3 or 4 times a year.

Just curious. Why on earth would you want to listen to a movie while walking a trail? Isn't the whole purpose of walking anywhere just listening to and taking in your immediate surroundings? In other words, being in the moment regardless if it's traffic or complete silence?

Great adventure Luke... LOL, Red Dawn... "WOLVERINES!!!!!"... thats the movie that taught every kid what an AK47 looks like. Kind of like how Outsiders taught us what a switch blade is. How you liking that Casio GPS watch? Those aren't cheap IIRC. Keep it up, love the chan Luke!!

Nice job on the time! I felt like I should be watching this on Halloween! Lol. Not sure if I seen you walk this before, but I guess it obvious why they call it "creeper". I am very curious about the house with the red lights 😂

Get audio books. Description is so much better and it helps it vocab and grammar for me. Stephen king is always good John Ludlum great drama. Even into the woods or outdoor stories. Way better than the movie versions. Library has downloads n mp3 devices for free for a couple few weeks. Fun adventure vid Luke! Thanks

That is some long walk. And having it be flat really helps - but it is is still one step in front of the other. I am no where in shape as you but would like to build up to about half of that. Jealous it's still March and you can hike snow free. I hiked here in Southern Ontario and it was an icy and wet slushy mess this weekend. And that cold coffee... you could have fired up a little Esbit stove for a coffee and it would have been only 5-10mins too. That is my plan. :)

Great job Luke !! Hope your drive home wasn't to far . I don't know if could do it , but I'm guessing I couldn't have with the amount of water I could carry in that BP . Our 2nd A and right to carry are more important now than ever . Especially with the ruling in Fla and the School shooting where the Officer didn't go in . It was RULED that LE has NO duty to put their lives at risk for ours !? Yep , that was the ruling . Nice to see ya out again , bet you have been sore these last few days . ATB ...Gubs

That must be an exceptionally flat stretch of the AT, so 34 miles in 12 hours is doable. But here in Georgia the AT is either winding up or down a mountain, and after 8 miles I’m ready to drop my 30 pound pound pack and call it the day.

I don't envy your drive home after that. My legs get stiff as a board as soon as I sit in a car after a long hike.
Abingdon and Damascus are both cool towns. Never really had any issues in either. There's an antique store in Abingdon with a cave in the back that Daniel Boone was alleged to have spent the night.

A nice video, but I don't see the point of walking in the dark.

We rode the Virginia Creeper Trail a few years ago from the Creeper Trail Campground, in Whitetop to Damascus. I have tried to get the family to make the return trip ever since, but there always seems to be other trips that we end up taking, instead. Maybe this year! I wonder if Olaf still has his campground in the Christmas tree farm???

I'd be more afraid walking past the tweaker than going into Abingdon (from what I see via your video). Regardless, I'd be carrying just like you did. I don't blame you one bit.
Very neat video. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for taking us on another great adventure Luke. BTW is that the same Black Diamond backpack you took on the last Creeper Trail video? It would be great if you could review again what gear you take on these day trips. A side note: my mother-in law is a twice cancer survivor. Cancer free for nine years now.

A few friends and i just got back today from a week down in the linville gorge. Great trip for us Boone local guys. We all packed heavy for some gooder than hell cooking. It was hell but dang we ate better than we normally do at home. Roasted a full chicken, deer tenderloin warped with bacon, jambalaya. Weather was rain, snow, ice and only seen the sun for a bit. Made a shelter for campfire/cooking. Living in these Mtns is the best!
