This went down exactly the same way between my 8 yr old daughter and my wife, except they weren't in a limo. My wife was putting her to bed one night then called me upstairs to talk to her after the fact. The blood had left my wife's face at the fact of ruining her Christmas for the rest of her life within 5 minutes. Girls are so bright! I told my daughter that Santa was real and his spirit of giving lives on through Christmas memories of parents and caregivers to their little ones. That's even more amazing than a magical sleigh.

To everyone surprised/questioning that an 11 year old believed in those things still, when I was in grade six so 11, a girl in my class started crying and yelling at us because we were talking about how old we were when we discovered that Santa/Easter bunny/etc. weren’t real and that girl was actually 12.

rjeven024 well, and that’s your choice. Some, including myself, look back fondly on waiting for Santa, Easter bunny etc as I was a kid and it was a simpler time. I was able to have a childhood and make believe and of course by the time I was 8 or 9 I knew the deal, but it was fun while it lasted. Nothing wrong with believing in things like that when you are a kid. World gets very real for you soon enough.

That reminded me of when I was young and having a conversation with my grandfather about God. And he, too, dropped a bomb. He said, "Remember that kid on the playground, running around, telling all the other kids that Santa Claus wasn't real? Turns out, that kid wasn't the one who was lying to you."

    • MsRainbow Brite
      MsRainbow Brite 7 days ago

MsRainbow Brite..My grandfather also said, "Jesus is just a Santa Claus for adults."
I see no good, logical reason to think that all of the gods and goddesses from all the thousands of religions that have been invented throughout human history, are "facts". In my personal opinion, I think they're all, equally ridiculous and made up.
Christian: "What's it like being an atheist?"
Atheist: "Do you believe in, Lono, the Polynesian sky god?"
      Christian: "No."
      Atheist: "Like that."
