Does the pulled candy with air in it have a different texture than the candy that hasn't been pulled? It'll obviously be less dense, but does it feel different in your mouth?

    • NorybDrol82
      NorybDrol82 10 months ago

Lofty Pursuits Is the difference between pulled candy greater with taffy or hard candy? I make taffy for the holidays & the pulling I think can makes a big difference.

It does, and it dissolves faster, giving you a flavor burst.

    • Cynthia Esquibel
      Cynthia Esquibel Year ago +1

Not really. As long as you keep your work area clean and picked up, insects and vermin should never be a problem. The food prep places that get those problems are the ones that don't keep their areas clean..it's the food spills and such that draw them in. You can see in all their vids that the people of Lofty Pursuits have very high standards when it comes to cleanliness.

Describing East Asia as "the orient" is kinda racist, so maybe don't do that

    • Lofty Pursuits

+Nieteh Orient means East Occident means West. It's where the term orienting yourself comes from.

+Lofty Pursuits ooh that makes sense

    • Lofty Pursuits
Lofty Pursuits  3 years ago +2

+JellyKity27 It's the candy makers choice. For bigger batches, the hook can make it easier, but for smaller bits of white, the hook cools the candy so fast that it becomes hard to work with. If you pull on the heated table, it can give you more work time.

Hey, I bought some candid today in the site and was just wondering if there's an estimated delivery date? I didn't see one on the email and on my account it just shows the order, but nothing to click on. Also, the link on the confirmation email that said "help page " just brought me to the home page and I couldn't find a help section. I was just wondering, thanks.

    • Lofty Pursuits
      Lofty Pursuits  3 years ago

+Andrew Tripoli in this case we are fully stocked and its cool. We make candy on a weekly schedule, so its possible to take a few days longer. Also when it is not we only ship on Monday and Tuesdays to prevent your candy from spending the weekend at an un air conditioned shipping warehouse. we hope to upgrade the site for more distant information soon, but we've had no time. we've had candy to make.

    • Lofty Pursuits

+Jackson Hood Because it is a challenge, and something fairly unique. Most candy is done in molds, and this is ... well more like glass working. Harder to learn, and a skill that I love being a part of preserving. I am thinking of making brittle this year, and we also make ice cream, syrups and other items for our soda fountain.

    glittermytimbers 3 years ago

This might seem like a really dumb question to someone who know a lot about candy making but I'm curious. About halfway through pulling the white it looks like a shiny gold color. Do you ever make anything with that color?

    • Lofty Pursuits
      Lofty Pursuits  3 years ago

no reason you could not, but as it cools it changes from that gold to a dirty light tan. not sure it would be appealing, mind you I might try it at some point.
