Scotty Kilmer I’ve had the worst experience with Nissan , I had a Maxima 2004 3.5L V6 transmission broke twice spent over 5,000 in repairs piece of junk. My cousin had a Murano and the same happened to him. I then bought a VW Jetta 2014 1.8 turbo literally hit 100,130 miles and transmission broke (I did all required transmission fluid changes before that) the dealership wouldn’t cover any of it because it had 130 miles more than what the warranty covered and they wanted $5,000 to fix it. Never again. Now I have a 2014 Honda Accord 4 cylinder and I couldn’t ask for more, the most reliable car I’ve had so far. I would only buy Honda or Toyota from now on. Subarus are good too but a little more pricey.

HEY! Scotty.. I gotta question.. What are your thought on ENGINE SWAP KITS ? Ive been thinking about buying a luxury car like MERCEDES, JAGUAR, BMW, etc.. I know these cars are money pits and runs like total crap. BUT they are NICE to look at. I mainly like it for the looks but I want to put a TOYOTA or CHEVY engine in it. What are your thoughts on this matter ?

      you can hear these lyrics:

      Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
      Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
Black Betty had a child (Bam-ba-Lam)
The damn thing gone wild (Bam-ba-Lam)
She said, "I'm worryin' outta mind" (Bam-ba-Lam)
The damn thing gone blind (Bam-ba-Lam)
I said "Oh, Black Betty" (Bam-ba-Lam)
      Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
      Oh, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
      Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
She really gets me high (Bam-ba-Lam)
You know that's no lie (Bam-ba-Lam)
      She's so rock steady (Bam-ba-Lam)
      And she's always ready (Bam-ba-Lam)
      Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
      Whoa, Black Betty (Bam-ba-Lam)
      Whoa, Black Betty…

Scotty every time I put you on a stupid top gear advert comes on and won't let me skip it, I've never watched the stupid show since clarkson left it and now the advert is annoying me I never will, I don't mind the advertisement at the end of the podcast and I'll watch the relevant ones but to be interrupted whilst watching and learning from you is sacrilege so everyone out there boycott top gear for interrupting Scotty

Chevy guy: I see you installed a new thermostat. You should have used an OEM part.
Me: why would I do that? The new metal one will last the life of the car. Your plastic part only lasted 104,000 miles.

A ccommon problem with those 2004 vvt-i engines is that they use a lot of oil, this is due to a design flaw that was fixed in later models.

Wrong! The best car ever made was the 1986 Corolla. They were almost immortal. My brother got 350,000 miles from his then sold it to the tow truck driver for $50. I got 110,000 miles from mine then sold it because I was tired of looking at it.

@Car Lea sorry to hear of your experiences with your Toyotas. I have never had issues with none of mine. I have had 4 and wouldn't own a never brand now that i am older and wiser with money! 93 Toyota Camry V6, 2004 Lexus ES 330, 2011 Toyota Camry V4, and a 1994 Lexus GS 300 which was my favorite and with this one i got 244, 000 something miles before it was hit parked minding it's own business at a Golden Corral. As with any used car though Car Lea please be sure to have a mechanic look over them. Too each it's own though. If u don't mind me asking. Whats your car brand of choice now?

    • Car Lea
      Car Lea 28 days ago

Antowne Mercer I've had three. Corolla, Avalon, I forget the other one. But they were used though.
With my Avalon XL, I was like, "what the hell is this?" Heated seats, beautiful leather and gorgeous panelling, automated this and that, beautiful little cubbyholes for glasses and such, even the Trunk is elaborate, THREE plug-ins.
But the damned windows are sometimey and the transmission is sometimey, the seats won't lie down for storage, the plug-ins will cause screwey issues if you actually use them, the visibility is actually Dangerous b/c the defogging of windows (ALL windows have defoggers 🙄) is truly Laughable. Don't get me started.
