I don't show it in the video because in this sitting I pour everything but the final layer. The final layer for me takes longer and I like to wait till the previous layer is completely hardened before I do it.
Video details: In this video I pour 4 or 5 layers of a medium sized orgonite pyramid (all but the very last layer). I go over all the materials I use, safety equipment, and tips for going faster. I use polyester resin so the ideal temperature for having it harden relatively quickly (5-10 minutes to mostly hard per layer) is 70-80 F, 21-26 C. If you have any further questions please ask - I'm happy to answer to them!

Where do you get your stones for your orgonite?

I buy them locally. When I lived in Calgary there was a place called Earth Gems that I loved, their selection was amazing and I do think you can order from them and they'll ship too. In San Antonio there is a pop up gem shop called Rock Your Magic that I love to buy from.

@Cdot 310 Yes you need to mix it thoroughly with the resin. I've only done smaller orgonite pieces using this method. I mix the iron fillings and resin in a cup really well before putting it into the mold. But you may be able to mix it in the mold, I'm not sure on the best approach for where to mix. Please share what works for you!

Twyla K Thanks, do I mix it with the resin?

You would use the iron fillings powder and mix it all up. I have an idea for a potential video collaboration on this topic, so hopefully in a month-ish I can make a video with a friend who makes them that way. Fingers crossed.

Thank you for reaching out Jean, if you're feeling drawn to work with me, receive Akashic Record wisdom and have a custom orgonite piece made, then that indicates to me that we're a match. That being said, I always also check in every client's Akashic Record first too (with their permission of course) to see if their Soul wants to be read. I always honor where the Soul is at first and foremost. For pyramids there are two sizes: personal (2x2x1.75 inches) that is $60 and the medium size (3x3x2.75 inches) that is $85. With each pyramid I include a mini Soul Profile reading through your Akashic Record. I make you a video and share about your Soul Gift and several other aspects. I can also do a deeper dive into your Akashic Record to look for past life situations that are blocking you from reaching your current intentions (each pyramid is designed to uphold energies that will help you reach the intention you share with me). Let me know what you think and if you have any questions, and if you want, you can also email me at soulshine@twylak.com.

hi, why do you do 4 drops when the instructions say otherwise? my pyramids are small so i decided to follow the instructions that came with castin craft. do you think using 2 drops isn’t enough when it gets to those final layers?

    • Twyla K
      Twyla K  2 months ago

Good catch - you should use 2 drops like the Castin Craft directions say. You do need less drops for the final layers 1) because they are thinner and have more exposed to air surface area and 2) if you're pouring a layer on top of one that's not fully hardened so is still curing and therefor hot, it will be exuding heat and so you don't need as much of the hardening catalyst to create that same level of heat. All that to say - I'm not sure why I did 4 drops for the final layers, it should be 2 😊

just found (and subscribed) to your channel... Question: Why do you use a cup per layer? why not using the same cup?
    Thank you!!

    • Twyla K
      Twyla K  3 months ago

Good question! I use 1 cup per layer because resin is so finicky - you have to be really careful about the measurement and amount of hardener. So you don't want to have any of the previously mixed resin kind of "contaminating" or disrupting the measurement and balance of your next resin mixture. It could cause it to not harden properly.

you have to do it in layers

Yes that's what I'm doing. I found a way to speed up the process though by mixing the next layer before I start working on the current layer, and if the temperature is warm enough, then each layer cures quite quickly.

hello. i tried one a few weeks ago and the resin takes 24 hours. and is equal parts 50/50 resin and hardener. you have tiny drops of hardener so it must be a different type of resin, and does it get gooey faster? I want to do layers but don;t want to wait hours for each layer to get thick enough to do the next.

also: what sort of sanding method do you recommend? I have finished my first one as i mentioned above and was thinking about smoothing out the sharp edges.

    • Twyla K
      Twyla K  3 months ago +3

Oh, and here's the video I made on sanding epoxy resin: tvclip.biz/video/1hF4HMU2oO8/video.html
If you only need a little sanding then a nail file like this: goo.gl/images/sSXamV is what I use for small sanding jobs.

    • Twyla K
      Twyla K  3 months ago +4

Hi Spencer, it sounds like you are using epoxy resin vs polyester resin. Yes polyester resin gets gooey and hardens much faster than epoxy resin - but the downside is that you need to work with it outdoors because it is so smelly, and you need to use a respirator mask because the fumes are toxic.
If you like, you can check out this video I made that talks about the differences between polyester and epoxy resin: tvclip.biz/video/7lmqGjP0bUI/video.html

    • Twyla K
      Twyla K  3 months ago

@Chris Sparzo Oh... I need to be even more careful then! Thank you for sharing this info. I do have a mask like that actually that I use when sanding and polishing my pyramids, so I can use it for pouring too. But I find it hard to get it to stay flat on my face when I'm wearing my respirator mask too.

    • Chris Sparzo
Chris Sparzo 3 months ago +1

@Twyla K Yes, rule of thumb is that if you wear a respirator for vapors you should wear goggles too. Vapors are just as harmful as the liquid itself, just in much tinier quantities. The vapors condense on the surface of your skin and eyes so it is effectively like getting it on you. you really shouldn't have any exposed skin where the vapors rise.
I recommend ventless goggles. They fog up more but offer more protection.

I've mostly been using metal molds that you can get on Amazon. But recently learned that Phi Molds from Bulgaria makes molds that you don't need to polish the pyramids after they come out because the quality of the mold is very good. They're more expensive but I think they'd be worth it. When the company comes out with the size and style of pyramid mold I want I am going to purchase one. But for now I'll keep using my metal molds and polishing the pyramids after they come out. Link: www.amazon.com/dp/B001FOPSH0/ref=twister_B06XPC8VWJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Loved you video. The one thing I'm not clear on is how much resin do you pour unto the cup each time? 1/4 paper cup? 1/2? 3/4? Thanks!!

    • Twyla K
      Twyla K  8 months ago +3

Truth Seeker that’s a great question! How much resin you pour in depends on how big/deep a layer of the pyramid you’re going to make. You need to eyeball it, and it’s something you’ll get better at the more you do. I wish there was an exact answer, but as I said, it depends on the pyramid layer size you’re working on 😊

John Smith for me creating Soul attuned, Intention activated pyramids - they wouldn’t be effective without crystals. I need to use crystals for that aspect. But if you’re making straight up orgonite, from what I’ve read - crystals are optional. You just need the resin and metal. Many people though do like to at minimum use a clear quartz crystal for the piezoelectric effect it creates when the resin shrinks around it and applies pressure to it.
