@Heathaze _ YES,Sony DOES make screens for Sonysong phones,I've spoken with Sony a LONG time ago about this and the cameras and screens are built by SONY,sorry.

    • Heathaze _
      Heathaze _ 15 days ago

@4 gauge I'm not sure where you heard that, but Sony most certainly does NOT make the screens on Samsung phones or on this One+... They do make the camera sensors. At least the main sensor.

You forgot to mention about lacking a FM receiver in it like in my LG V-20,this is a very important feature because your not having to be connected to your data plan to listen to 🎶⬅music or news.
This is a very nice smartphone, but I'm on the"fence"about this newest ONE+PLUS flagship not having a SD memory card capability, this is where ONE+PLUS kinda fell short with me.
The cameras and screen on this phone is built by SONY and NOT samesung, even samesungs phones use SONY cameras and screens,I find that interesting.
The ONE+PLUS+7 is tough to beat for the money, nearly half the price of the Sonysung S-10+and iPhone 10+.

The reason the fingerprint scanner doesn't work when the OnePlus 7 Pro is off is because the s10 has an always on display while the OnePlus 7 Pro doesn't have an always on display

I'm going to grab one of these. Currently running the Note 9 and I'm really happy with everything except the camera, the Note can't take a photo of a moving image without blur, it just won't set the shutter speed to fast enough, I have hundreds of blurred images of my kid. Still images are generally really good, although Samsung over processes the crap out of them.
The note 9 with the Pixel 3 camera would be the perfect phone, and before you say install Gcam, don't bother, been there with various versions and Gcam improves some things and makes other things worse.
Awesome review by the way Erica, you cover everything very logically.

The telephoto camera is a lie, the zoom is just the main sensor bumped up or not to 48 megapixels, that bottom camera is actually the portrait camra. Try it! Cover the bottom or middle camra to see what I mean, covering the bottom camra doesn't effect the zoom effect because it uses the main lense, I have found that out and at first I was really confused.

Hi Erica, I have an S10 Plus (Exynos variant) 8 GB 128 GB variant. PUBG has some frame drop issues with the Exynos variant.
So I am a little biased towards the OnePlus 7 Pro 12 GB 256 GB.
Camera and outdoor display visibility and clarity are also my criteria. So can't decide whether to sell my S10 Plus to purchase OnePlus 7 Pro.
    Please advise ASAP.
P.S My previous device is OnePlus 5T, so you know where I am coming from.

    • Solan Goose
      Solan Goose 4 days ago

@Justin dee I disagree. I have had all the SG's since S2 and will not buy any S10 variant here in the UK again simply because the Exynos/Mali SoC is WAY slower in performance than Snapdragon/Adreno. Just look at the real world side by side comparison videos on TVclip as well as the benchmarks. It is night and day. I have just ordered the 1+7 pro. My last 3 Samsung phones were laggy as hell even doing the basics like making a call and browsing. I want my phone to be fast and fluid like an iPhone. That is what is most important to me. Why should the US and China get the fastest Samsung's and not the rest of the world?

I wouldnt care if it didn't even have a front camera at all. I just wish it had head phone jack but i geuss you cant have it all. The telephoto lens is actually not being used when you take 3x shots. Its still using main camera, 48 megapixel one. Try to put your finger on telephoto lens and then shoot the image with 3x zoom, it still works whereas it shouldn't if it actually uses telephoto lens.
    Great video. Thanks

    • Heathaze _
      Heathaze _ 12 days ago

@True J Gaming it doesn't matter where you buy the phone, VoLTE isn't going to work on Verizon or AT&T.

    • Heathaze _
      Heathaze _ 12 days ago

@True J Gaming what you obviously don't understand, is that when you make a blanket statement such as, "Verizon isn't better than T-Mobile", that's simply false for large swaths of the country, including my area. And others, actual tech sites, have commented on VoLTE not working on AT&T or Verizon. Visual voicemail doesn't work yet on AT&T, either. I wanted to buy this phone, but there's no way I'm using it on a janky network (in my area- your area may vary, or maybe you don't travel).

    • True J Gaming
True J Gaming 12 days ago

@Heathaze _I cant speak for AT&T because I don't have experience with them but Verizon is not better than T-mobile, I know this for a fact. Since it's that important for you to use a specific phone company then you can just buy it from one+'s website and make a plan with Verizon but I guess you don't research stuff before putting it in the garbage bin. If what you say about the phone is true then why has nobody else commented on this? Seems like you like to make up your own cons about both company's and products, but you have clearly made up your mind about something you know very little about, so I won't bother you again.

    • Heathaze _
      Heathaze _ 12 days ago

@True J Gaming why use the two best networks in the United States? Mainly because T-Mobile sucks here, not even delivering text messages for hours at times. There's plenty of other reasons not to buy this phone, too. Bad camera software, no headphone jack, no visual voicemail on my network, shaky video quality, and that horrible reflective screen.

    • True J Gaming
True J Gaming 12 days ago

Verizon and AT&T? Why even use those companies? They dont offer you anything that you cant get at T-mobile, which does have this phone. If you insist on using companies like that then you'll be stuck with LG, Motorola and Samsung forever, for no good reason. Verizon used to be the best but thats old news, other companies have cought up and now the difference is minimal to none. Of course its your choice weather you buy this phone or not, but if thats the only reason to why you wont get it then I feel very bad for you.

    • John Doe
      John Doe 16 days ago

The amount of RAM the phone uses at any particular moment is directly correlated with the number of programs and features which are running simultaneously and their collective RAM usage. However, to some extent you are correct because sometimes a computer/phone processor may not be capable of running certain programs simultaneously even though the RAM would be able to handle it, in which case one or more programs are prevented from running and thus entirely or partially do not use RAM

    • Erica Griffin
      Erica Griffin  17 days ago

If the phone can't use the amount of ram it's pointless though.

@Just_a_Person _123 yes...as u said we no need to wait till battery comes to 0 percent to charge. It will be good if battery is 30 to 40 percent at the end of the day.but one plus 7 Pro battery reduces from 100 to 65 percent in just one hour of continues usage. In this way its happening to charge 2 times a day... finally it depends on usage. If u don't use and just keep in ur pocket battery comes more time..

    • Just_a_Person _123
      Just_a_Person _123 19 days ago

Well it has a 30watt warp charger in the box and i dont think u should use ur phone so extensively that it goes from 100 to 0 twice in a day and even if, realistically speaking a normal person would use phone in the morning with 100percent and at around afternoon when it hits like 30percent and charge it for 20mins to get back around 70 and that would last for the rest of the day and then charge overnight. So yes it is charging twice, once in the morning and once afternoon but at morning its already 100 (charged overnight) and at afternoon its only a 20mins charge (most people dont use just a phone all day long) so it isn't as bad as u claim it is. My brother has one so i know)

  • Chris Schulte
    Chris Schulte 22 days ago

Is it possible that oneplus can make the camera of the 7 pro via software better? So like making the colors as bright as the ones of the s10? Cause the main point why I don't know which one to buy is the battery (s10 not s10 plu) and the fact that the s10 got a lot warmer colours on the display and via the camera, better wide angle photos as well...

@Erica Griffin if you are using "auto" mode then it doesn't, for example I'm not a fan of "auto brightness" and I always use it on max, and now on my S6 edge I have burn in keyboard :D

Not minding the curve? As in, flat is better right? Curve being a compromise, right? Flat to edge is intelligent design for practical use. Curved edges? Well that's great for a gimmick that does nothing to enhance anything except to be "different" or now "trendy".

  • goldeneyeforevercom
    goldeneyeforevercom 23 days ago

So who doesn't cover up that 'beautiful"? Of course cases will cover that. It's not a selling point if you can't see it. How about that curve for the light to reflect off of? Watch your own video and tell us how losing those edges to light reflection is a good thing.

Most other phones, except the ones advertised as a "gaming" style phone, have that gaming mode as an afterthought, and don't dedicate a heavily tuned mode to this. Oneplus went beyond the others to grab the largest amount of enthusiasts/users/consumers. Price is great for what it has. Some features top most other flagships. A win for Oneplus.

Just looking at my 7 Pro now. I never noticed the blue to dark blue metal frame around it. Man this phone is pretty.

I don't have a dog in this race. I'm still on my Note 9 and probably won't switch until the Note 11 comes out with an uninterrupted screen. But I did play around with the floor models both the S10+ and OP7Pro at an electronics store where I know the proprieter for a solid couple of hours
The short of it is that the S10+ wins on user experience. The stereo speakers are way better, far richer screen colors, an understated more gradual curve at the screen edges, a nice light feel in my hands against the OP which is not just heavy but top heavy as hell. The OP screen curve is very steep and unpleasantly in your face. Speakers are not loud and really not that good at least compared to the S10+ Battery life seems to be better but that may be because the S10+ floor model had been used a lot more, and possibly because the S10+ was set to a higher brightness(I disabled auto brightness on both and set both to a brightness I felt comfortable with. I may well have set a higher brightness on the S10+) But I did not find the ram management issues some people talked about. It seemed to keep all my apps in memory just like the S10+ I also didn't notice any difference in switching from a 60 hz to a 90 hz refresh rate. A lot of people won't. Just putting it out there
A lot of reviewers seem biased in favor of OnePlus just because they like the company. But from a user point of view the S10+ is simply better unless you only focus on speed(and the S10+ is no slouch, because OneUI really is very fluid, just not as fast as OP) Of course it costs more(not that much more now that prices have dropped) but you also do get more for the price.

I can't wait to get my hands on one! Do you think Huawei have ruined the mobile camera market tho as it's unlikely anyone will replicate or beat them?

Anyone know why sports streaming apps like watchESPN or even the Time Warner Spectrum app look better on my Pixel XL than my OnePlus 7 Pro?
My guess is the ppi difference.
    Pixel XL had 534 ppi
    7 Pro has 516 ppi
I'm guessing that makes the facial details and grass detail for sports like baseball look better?
    Anyone know?
Help please. Might return it because of this..

For all those who purchase this phone and fall in love with it's performance - how much trade-in value will it have compared to a Samsung or Apple phone? Probably not much! I like the phone, but I want trade-in value when I decide to upgrade. My 3 year old iPhone 7+ is still worth $400 as a trade.
