Kevin's not allowed in the shop as Ryan's adding new heads, a new valve train, a pro-flo EFI throttle body, and intake to his 454 to wake up the potential in this big V-8.

    Oh no, you didn't show us the builds outcome... It's equally as important to witness the results without being presumptuous. We're forced to rate the over all video as a 7.5 without showing the end result!! Not cool!! There's no point watching if we can't see the end results on the dino or the street!! :-( We're just a couple of people, but it's difficult to remain as a subscriber for this important reason!!

    If they're smart, they'll add a stroker kit. Costs about the same as a stock rebuild kit, as it does to turn it into a 489. Should easily make 600hp as a 489, 650 isn't a reach either. They got 620hp out of a 454 on Engine Masters with Edelbrock XT heads and a solid roller cam.

    Had a 454 in my tow truck and got 500k + miles on it before the timing chain slipped was still ok and could have been fix but it's my bread and butter so it was time for a new truck

    In 1997 the Lt4 vortec 350 had 345ftlb stock. 45 more then the 454 in this video. And it reved to 6500 rpm. And it got better mpg. Put a multi port on the vortec and see the dyno. This engine was dead before it left the factory.

    The first time I ever pulled a set of cast iron big block heads I couldn’t believe how heavy they were. I always knew they weren’t exactly light but wasn’t prepared for how much they actually weighed.

    Damn dude. Even with 8.8:1 compression you can still add some kind of forced induction. What about a little 50 shot or 75 shot of nitrous? I know the stock short block can handle at least that much.

    This is the reason why American cars sucked in the 80-90’s automotive tv show hosts who spread weak ass info to make people think 198whp is uncontrollable in a 4500lb truck! 8.8-1 compression is worse than two boys (*******)! And if they can’t make 450whp they wasted our time! BTW anytime you open up an engine that’s been worked on by you don’t know who, you might want to rebuild it and raise that fuckin compression!
