I LOVE Mari Kondo, but please don't fold outer-garments. Hanging them, after folding is best - as the british organizing guru advocates. Why wear wrinkled shirts and pants?!...unless they are sweats and PJs worn at home... She also neglects to consider air circulation - something folding prevents, esp. if in a wooden dresser.

Our grandmothers used to fold and organize their spaces ...What happend after that generation...In other countries women take pride of their homes...In Canada and Us you're devalued as a woman if you do

I love her folding but I've also learned that military style folding (of shirts) is just as effective & compact. We had very tiny lockers in the Navy so we had to maximize space. I guess I just got used to folding that way. But either way both are good to save space.

I just moved into a home with very little storage, plus, I'm disabled. I've already purged a ton of stuff, but my craft room! GAH! I hate to part with a single supply. Expensive and I need them for my small home business. Now what?!

I can't believe that tidying up can be this serious... to teach...
I think this is common sense...
I am not a very neat person in organizing but I know and I do it that I should put things in order and throw unneccesary things away to have more space and make me feel free to move
Most people are just too busy or lazy to tidy up...even being ignorant...
However, well done Marie Kondo. You make people aware of how important it is to have space that sparks joy!

  • Deborah Thomas

I want to get started following her book and videos. I already started before I thought of following her example. I want to purge as much as I can so when I pass away, my kids don’t have so much to go through. Since I don’t plan on going anywhere soon, once I have my stuff in order, I’ll have to keep it that way a long time. That may be a challenge. The only problem I foresee is she says to keep thirty books. I have a very small library. Series books, that I’ve read, can go. Others, will be harder to let go off. I’ll give it a go and we’ll see.😊

I’ve been wondering why her technique become viral cuz I think it’s common sense that ppl throw away/ donate things they wouldn’t need/ use anymore. Less stuff, thus, more space, thus, much easier to re-organize. That’s what my family have been doing for years :))))

Amazing how anyone nowadays can pick a trivial subject, turn it in to a brand and/or business, call her-/himself a "specialist" and make money out of gullible people by selling them make-believe hot air.

Um...not trying to be the hater, but isn't this just organizing?
Why aren't people doing this regularly? Why do you need another person to come and tell you how to? Other than the clothes folding one is new to me, everything else is very very basic.

I don't understand what the big fuzz is about this...
