To think that this charming woman is the same woman who's playing Mildred in Three Billboards... Frances McDormand is a goddess, age did nothing to her but change ''cool'' into ''badass''.

I love this scene because of the interplay between Frances McDormand and William H. Macy. They had great chemistry and this scene was just plain perfect. I loved how calm she was asking the questions and also how frazzled and tense Macy's character was you could just tell from the look on his face as she was asking about the car's plates that he was really losing his cool and I loved her reaction after he snapped at her. He knew he was in deep after that. Fargo is a film I can watch again and again the acting from the whole cast is just phenomenal. The script is terrific and the direction is masterful. Fargo is an incredible movie and one my favorite films ever.

I've caught myself talking like this when I'm really into what I'm talking about, but our accent isn't usually like that AT ALL but I'm from southern MN, maybe they actually do sound like that in the far north. 😂 But I've heard this was actually supposed to be North Dakota even though parts of it was filmed in Minnesota.

I think I picked up on some subtle messages on this scene. So the cop lady, She's pregnant and hormonal, and William Macy's character is the first guy in awhile who wasn't charmed by her (since he was so on edge) and it actually turned her on! Check out the Cop Woman's eyes as he walks away, she seemly looks down and checks out his ass like 3 times lol.. am I imagining this? or is this scene supposed to come across that way?

  • WeirdCityCitizen

this is a pretty specific accent... I've seen it, and seen it this strong, in the iron range of Minnesota, North of duluth. usually only by older folks though.

tony lennon You'll only hear this thick of an accent up north in the rural areas of Minnesota. Very very rare in the more populated areas, although I do find myself exaggerating the O's in some words. When I visited California some lady pointed it out to me and asked if I was from the Midwest haha!
