My goodness what a difference 8 months make. Turns out the media really is fake and the democrats are just as corrupt as anyone. FISA warrant's and illegal activity and corruption in our own FBI. Turns out Trump was actually right about some of this stuff. METOO is now blowing up with Asia Argento being a abuser. Is it just me or is this the craziest time of your life?

I think it’s really horrible how critical people are of Meryl. Yes she called Harvey Weinstein “god” but it was before she knew about anything that was going on. As with the Roman Polanski thing. She is such a generous person and was simply giving out compliments. Of course she would not support Harvey Weinstein or Roman Polanski now after discovering what was actually going on so I think people should just back off and realise that she has good intentions and does care about rights for women. I hate it when the media take one comment and twist it so horribly. Also I think it was very unprofessional of the interviewer to put her on the spot like that. She seemed really uncomfortable with it. I felt really bad for her

    • Molly Dyke
      Molly Dyke Month ago +1

craisins 86 you can’t prove it. And we don’t know the half of what goes on in Hollywood. She may have been blackmailed. Like she said directors are in a position of power over the actors so will know things about them that others won’t. Weinstein may have threatened her and Polanski may have done the same. I genuinely can’t see her supporting someone like that unless she was scared or threatened. You can have your opinion however if you do not like her then I don’t understand why you are watching this video. I understand a lot of people do not like her at all but anyone who just comes up with one theory like you have just done does not have the right to criticise her. I understand that maybe she did support them but I don’t think that someone like Meryl who has very strong values and good morals would do that without being very scared or genuinely not knowing the persons capabilities. The whole “Weinstein is a god” statement was back in 2012 so I’m pretty sure she had no idea of what he was capable of back then.

    • craisins 86
      craisins 86 Month ago

Oh no, she supported Roman Polanski even knowing about his having raped and sodomised a person not of age. In fact part of that support was to overturn the legal consequences for that act (which RP admitted to). She is one nasty individual.

I think the better actor or the actor that pulls in the audience should get paid more regardless of sex. I mean you get paid more for having better skill sets in other jobs a brain surgeon gets more than a nurse regardless of their sex. It's a odd thing if people are just all paid the same regardless of popularity or fame I am guessing the extras where not paid the same as Tom or Meryl. Experience and longevity in the business should deserve a higher pay bracket surley.

Working Inge entertainment industry myself and knowing how much cover ip goes on behind the scenes, they knew. All is revealed in the industry, wether it's through talk, secrets heard, other actors having bad experiences or whatever the case is at the time. But to be honest, they would know more then they're willing to admit. I don't blame them for not admitting what they know beforehand or not. It's a fucked up industry. I've been taken advantage of too here in Australia in the industry by an industry "professional" or so I thought.... I even knew about the sexual allegations before Craig McCachlan way before his arrest in Australia weeks ago.. look him up if you're not sure who he is.. it's well known here about Craig,s actions and behaviour way before he was arrested... so in regards to Harvey, yes they know...

    *井井井井井井井井井井井井井井井井井井井*
Excuse me, I don't think actors/actresses should be paid equally because of their sex/gender.
*It is only fair and just that they are paid according to their contributions to the box officer ! ! !*
(And there is a reasonably scientific method to work out their respective contributions:
    Let's say a protagonist typically has 70% of screen-time in a film,
so we can say a protagonist contributes to 70% of the box officer earnings of a film.
Hence for a particular actor/actress, we can work out from his/her track record how much he/she contributed in the past,
    then pay him/her accordingly.
E.g. Tom Cruise is worth, say,13 b of box officer earnings, that is twice as much as, say, Meryl Streep,
then he should be paid twice as much.)

CNN is fake news as are many other outlets, this was known long before Trump ever uttered the phrase. This is just a way to demonize anyone who thinks it or say it in the future. Since a lot of people despise Trump, when you use the term they will associate you with him and despise you as well. This is just a manipulation tactic. They take a term or words intelligent grass roots people use and make it work in favor for the press. Slick move.
I use to respect these people but not anymore. They certainly are masters at their craft, there is no doubt about that but I see them for what they truly are now and it makes me sick.

Meryl, Please don't tell me that you supported Hillary! She and the DNC smeared Bernie Sanders' reputation in an awful and deceitful way. Think about it - Trump was forever on TV during the campaign, and Hillary had many interviews, as well. The networks hardly ever invited Bernie to speak on their news shows. He was like the black sheep - not much coverage, and a lot less chances to speak on the public media shows. But there is one thing that I know now - according to polls, Bernie Sanders is now the most popular politician in the country, and before that statistic came out, he spoke to thousands of supporters at his speeches.

  • Devon Cars
    Devon Cars 8 months ago

I do not know what it is that some do not understand about equal pay and equal opportunity. Of course if you do equal work you should be paid the same and your way to the top of any industry should be as easy or as tough as your opposite gender, but to get to the top of any industry you have to constantly work 70/80 hours per week for 10 plus years non stop. You have to step on people and accept that someday someone may step on you. Work place that offer good careers is a battle zone and it is usually a non stop competition full of backstabbers. It is very rare for a man to have a career. Only a chosen few get that. The likelihood for a male to have career is less than 1%. The rest of us have jobs that we would not do if it wasn't for a financial reason.

What's incredibly disappointing about this interview is that neither of them actually answer the question as to what, if anything, they knew about Weinstein. Streep and Hanks both evade the question with real skill, and spin their responses well away from what is required of them. If they are as morally and politically upstanding as they like to present themselves as being, the least they can do is be upfront about whatever complicity/responsibility/acquiescence they may or may not be guilty of.
