One of the biggest disadvantages of all Wheel drive...... Tires! If you get a flat that can't be fixed you end up having to buy 4 tires. They need to all be the same diameter. 2 year old tires aren't the same diameter as the same tire new.

Teslas don’t have motors at all 4 wheels. There are single motor Teslas, and there are Dual Motor Teslas. Single motor designs have the motor on the rear axle. The Dual Motor Teslas have a motor at the front axle and a motor at the rear axle. But their computer systems do control each of the 2 wheels on each axle independently, making literally hundreds of adjustments per second for the utmost in performance. And Scotty’s right, they have some of the most advanced technology in the world.

Tesla's don't have a motor are every wheel. The model 3 starts at around $40k new. Why would you recommend a Subaru, when the cost of owning a model 3 is less than that of a Honda Accord? Just because you can't work on a Tesla doesn't make it a bad car.

Hey Scotty! I got a 2006 Toyota Matrix 4WD with a tranfer case and viscous coupler. It's usually 100% front wheel drive. When there is a big enough difference in wheel speed front and rear, the viscous coupler kicks it to provide some power to the rear. It's a purely mechanical system. With Michelin Premier A/S tires it's unstoppable on snow and ice, even on fairly steep hills.

I own a 15 year old Audi TT Quattro and still drive it virtually daily. The key to its long life? Take care of it. That said, because Quattro comes in two different configurations-Torsen and Haldex- they perform differently. Between the two, I prefer the original “older” Torsen because it is mechanical, full-time AWD, and simpler to maintain.

4:10 totally agree - the British tanks (and the US?) dominated the German tank in the end - reason: sheer numbers and quicker to fix. The Germans took too long making their more technically sophisticated tanks as the war moved and hence made fewer relative to the allies - also harder to fix than the simpler British tanks. The Germans got bogged down in perfection when sheer numbers would do a better overall job.
