  • This is a super easy but absolutely brilliant sausage roll recipe. Jamie shows us a couple of little cheats making home made sausage rolls completely accessible and totally desirable.     I make sausage rolls with either Sweet chili sauce or orange marmalade and rosemary, they are delish and so easy to freeze and have at any time 🙌🏻🍊

    I think the sage probably also gives it a spinach type texture, spinach goes well in pastries I find, especially when it's got that bit of crunch which I imagine the Sage has some of, depending how you made it/fried it.

    The only cheat is the pastry. The other cheats are just swapping quality ingredients for other quality ingredients :-)

    Those sausages sound pretty good.
    Admittedly I probably wouldn't add herbs, very basic I know.
    The mustard I'd put in though, that smack in the face would be lovely.
    Butter or egg wash?
    Not sure about the sesame seeds.
    Well that's lovely that is.

      Egg wash is the one you use with pastry - the pastry already has butter in it - eggwash is the right one to use - and its super easy too

    Anybody got an idea for a dipping sauce that would go with? The dish itself is already delicious but I feel like adding a dipping sauce like a marinara or maybe a spicy aioli that can pair and compliment the flavors going on

    Used to sausages I buy in Italy I can't find a decent sausage when I'm in UK, there's always something wrong with the taste or with the texture

      There are few things better, a good beef sausage roll with tomato sauce on the side (like ketchup, only with less vinegar flavour) is amazing. Same with a decent steak and cheese pie.
