The revolutionary government had more military success than people like to give credit for. Should have settled and consolidated than try to go on an adventure against the Ottomans.

1789,1792,1848 (failed one),1876 if i recall and after getting a more democratic regime we can count the massive strikes to fight the power with shutdown of the country 1936 1946 1948 1968 1995 and today 2018-unknown Yellow Jackets not sure if it will lead to massive change in the political system but history will tell.
I also forgot counter-revolutionary coups, diverse forms of terrorism, right now it's the 5th Republic and it's been 230 years since 1789, French people are agitated
You never know when my people start being mad about something but when it's starting nobody has a clue where it's going, right now it's been 5 months of protests and still going, and if the clown Macron is trying to trick the people, he might even start a new Revolution because of his cluelessness.

The Netherlands (Dutch Republic) fought two centuries to keep the French out of their country and succeeded, but in 1795 they were totally overrun. By many the French were even seen as their liberators (from the ruling elite). Fact is that this war was the definitive end of the Low Countries being a world superpower.

At first it was really only Austria playing the biggest part in the first half of the Revolutionary wars. The British never landed any troops in Europe until 1815. The Prussians only gave minimal support to Austria along with the German states; and Russia did not get fully involved until the third collation at the battle of Austerlitz. Prussia only joined due to a dispute with Hannover, which Napoleon wanted to give to Britain in exchange for peace. It of course was the greatest shock when Prussia lost against France, everyone thought that the Prussians could have defeated Napoleons grand army, especially with having a history of great military achievements and one of the strongest armies in Europe.
