I felt a little uncomfortable for Keith Urban when Alex thanked and said I love you to Nicole to end his speech. Especially after all the rumors that swirled around about the two of them. But I think Nicole is a very wholesome person and wouldn't cheat. I can't wait to see BLL. I wish it was on Netflix. Reese Witherspoon and Shaliane Woodley and hell every one else in the show are my favorite actors ever. I read the book and LOVED IT so I can only imagine how good the show is

    • Touichi 2208

    • Margaret Bailey
      Margaret Bailey Year ago +2

LeLievre Foldszin As in writing not all stories are for the sole purpose of entertainment. They also, instruct, persuade and inform. Some do all 4 simultaneously. We don’t live in a back and white world and our stories are not all one thing or another.

    • Alexandra James
      Alexandra James Year ago +1

Fair enough. I just personally (my opinion) feel that this is the time for men to shut up and actually listen to what women have to say. They've been controlling things for so long that it's time for the women to make their voices heard. Not just in Hollywood, but all across the board.

    • tigersuity
      tigersuity Year ago +1

Not what I said. We need men to speak with us (not for us), especially to other men. Just wearing a pin and using a hashtag may be a start, but in the end it's not enough. And I am making this point because for years most of these men in the business were silent, ergo supporting the system. This is on them. And I have never seen "plenty opportunities for them [men] to speak up" like you said. When and where is that supposed to happen if not at an award show that is THEMED with the issue of sexual assault and violence....

    • Alexandra James
      Alexandra James Year ago +8

Oh so a woman needs a man to speak up for them?

    • tigersuity
      tigersuity Year ago

And it would have been fantastic for any woman to have at least one man take their side vocally and not through a pin!!
And on a side note: While I agree, that Oprah was great and inspiring, you say this was about the women: But when could all the great activists speak up during the event? Not once! I think they (Times Up Movement and any celeb bringing an activist (as a "token" imho)) could have done a better job by having all the activists come on stage and let their voices be heard. That would have been a true momentum and movement. Profound activism. But... they only got to speak so much - outside.
So that's why others, including myself, are disappointed and think that not "all" women really got to own that night.

    • Alexandra James
      Alexandra James Year ago +1

They have plenty of other opportunities to speak out. The Golden Globes was about the women, and they totally owned it. Loved Oprah.
