Im surprised Chris didn't add a drain plug so he could drain fluid after driving for a day and replace the other 6 quarts that were left in torque converter. I would paint the pan too cause it shows attention to detail. Nice job. Like the silicon paste trick. I would use skim coat of rtv in the corners but like the paste idea even better. Less mess next time around.

I thought if my transmission works ok now,
But it's 12 years old and have 185.000 miles on him,
When i change Oil and filter inside a transmission,
    Just to know
    Is it Save,
To add 16oz of Lucas Heavy duty transmission fix Additive.???
    Any good advice
Thank U so much in Advance and apologize to all of followers/TVclip's
That I'm bugging with this constant question.
    All best to All 👍👍👍

    Hi Chris,
    If is not necessary,
    But on my own,
Is it ok, when i change my atf fluid, to Add 16 oz
    Of Lucas Transmission fix ,
To help inside components more lubrication and more seal life prolonging,.
Or is not Safe at all to Add Luxas transmission fix slippage additive,.???
    Any advise

    Hi Chris
I appreciate very much the videos that you produce are very practical and very informative. I would have a question for you, how to make sure that the auto part shop sold us the right oil filter before doing the work?
There is a way to check because once the oil removed from the transmission I can not go back.

Thank you for your response and good luck in your future projects.

Hey on GMs there is a seal where the spout of the filter goes in. Anyone know how to get it out? This a for a 2007 Chevy Impala LT btw

    • Redtooth 75
      Redtooth 75 21 day ago

I used a small punch and a hammer to cave in the lip of the seal. Then you grab it with a pliers and pull it out.

I paint everything light grey not black, that way you will be able to spot a leak sooner rather than later.

Just call the Mazda dealer and they definitely do not take the steps. The guy says we just drain it and fill it and we do not mess with the filter to prevent damage.

How are you going to get the rest of that oil out? do you run new transmission fluid through it again until you start flushing out when you transmission fluid?

I think it may be the tranny pump gave out so that is whybit isn't shifting at all. Any info would help. Thanks love the videos

hi chris, i did notice that other videos show " flushing the torque converter and cooler system." thus replacing 99 percent of the old transmission fluid with new fresh red transmission fluid. Im wondering if just dropping the pan and replacing only what is in the pan is sufficient...what da ya think?
