JOKER - Final Trailer - Now Playing In Theaters

  • Published on Aug 28, 2019
Director Todd Phillips “Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.
Three-time Oscar nominee Phoenix (“The Master,” “Walk the Line,” “Gladiator”) stars in the titular role alongside Oscar winner Robert De Niro (“Raging Bull,” “The Godfather: Part II”) as Franklin. The film also stars Zazie Beetz (“Deadpool 2”), Frances Conroy (TV’s “American Horror Story,” Hulu’s “Castle Rock”), Marc Maron (TV’s “Maron,” “GLOW”), Bill Camp (“Red Sparrow,” “Molly’s Game”), Glenn Fleshler (TV’s “Billions,” “Barry”), Shea Whigham (“First Man,” “Kong: Skull Island”), Brett Cullen (“42,” Netflix’s “Narcos”), Douglas Hodge (“Red Sparrow,” TV’s “Penny Dreadful”) and Josh Pais (upcoming “Motherless Brooklyn,” “Going in Style”).
Oscar nominee Phillips (“Borat,” “The Hangover” trilogy) directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Oscar-nominated writer Scott Silver (“The Fighter”), based on characters from DC. The film is produced by Phillips and Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper (“A Star Is Born,” “American Sniper”) under their Joint Effort banner, and Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff (“The Wolf of Wall Street”). It is executive produced by Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada, Aaron L. Gilbert, Joseph Garner, Richard Baratta, and Bruce Berman.
Behind the scenes, Phillips is joined by director of photography Lawrence Sher (“Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” “The Hangover” trilogy), production designer Mark Friedberg (“Selma,” “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”), editor Jeff Groth (“War Dogs,” “The Hangover Part III”), and Oscar-winning costume designer Mark Bridges (“Phantom Thread,” “The Artist”). The music is by Hildur Guðnadóttir (“Sicario: Day of the Soldado”).
Warner Bros. Pictures Presents, in Association with Village Roadshow Pictures, in Association with BRON Creative, a Joint Effort Production, a Film by Todd Phillips, “Joker.” It will be in theaters nationwide October 4, 2019 and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Y'know, I just saw Pink Floyd's The Wall recently, and I guess commentors on "The Trial" said they could hear the jingles of "Craaaazy" in THIS trailer. Now connecting the existential dots, the two movies are VERY similar. The overbearing mother, the false "partner", and the world judging him for having feelings....

This movie was honest garbage. It's so sad we went from Christopher Nolan's Joker to this. DC is becoming more of a joke every single movie they release. Because they totally destroyed Thomas Wayne's character/personality by making him a stuck up jerk simply because he was a billionaire. He is supposed to be a caring, generous, and thoughtful man who gave very much through his billions to help Gotham become better. There is no way a great man like Bruce Wayne the freakin' Batman could come from that guys fathering. 2 Star movie at most. Y'all act like the big rich guys are the bad guys just as much as the selfish, disgusting, people who think they deserve more than what they have. I hate this movie and forever will. Could y'all make more movies like Wonder Woman or SHAZAM which were actually decent? Please. I really love y'all's super heroes, but this is just embarrassing. Please.

This movie is not the worst one but I think that this movie is extremely overrated. Even a few of the scenes are good, but winning Oscar? I think this movie doesn't worth it, and there are much better movies. When I compare the character creation of person of suffering mental illness, Rain Man is so far better for me. . To be honest, that movie doesn't worth your time. If you like this theme you should rather watch Rain man. No offense, this is just mine opinion.

I love how for like 30 years, every time I mentioned "King of Comedy" being one of my favorite movies, all I got in response was "wtf is that?" or, when I lent it to someone and had them watch it, "ehh, not my taste" "dumb, I didn't get it" "not for me, too weird" "not for me, too dark."
Now everyone who needs to see over the top CGI, child-level scene cut speeds, and shiny, sparkly things to light up their simple neurons, is bouncing around social media reciting that they didn't like Joker because "iT's a RiP oFf oF KiNg oF cOmEdY."
I know for fact not a single person whining out that line on these comments saw the movie. You're all parroting something you read on a review.
Had any of you seen and loved King of Comedy, you'd understand this movie, and you'd recognize it for the dark, doomed, soaring, triumphant and, yes, crushingly sad masterpiece it is.
Reading comments from all the brand new experts of King of Comedy who sprung up out of the woodwork together since October has been hilarious.
From someone who knows King of Comedy inside out and has been in complete awe of it for 3 decades and counting, even when no one else I knew could appreciate it like me or with me, Iet me school you: Joker is not a rip-off. Joker pulls off a feat I'd not have thought possible-- it is a stunning homage to it while being in a completely other genre. It genuinely shines in every scene in which KOC's inspiration is evident.
To anyone who needs typical super-hero fare and is too vapid to understand this film's importance and absolutely gutting depth, those of you insisting you hate it because it's ripping off a movie you've never seen nor even heard about prior to reading a Joker review, try the last Ghostbusters-- I heard it has what you're looking for. Joker is out of your league.
