First time in Hawaii I was stationed at Oakland Army Base 1968-69. Hopscotched a MAC charter out of Travis. Stayed at Ft Derussy next to Hilton Hawaiian Village. Best beach on Waikiki. Grass beach. Shared a Quonset hut BOQ room for $1.50 a night. Chi-Chi’s flowed plentifully. Gotta watch the trade winds. Don’t realize the sun is frying you as the breezes are so cooling.

I have a question to ask you. I have flown on Turboprop aircraft dozens of times (Specifically the Dash 8 Q400NextGen) but surprisingly, I haven't flown on a Turbofan Aircraft in Years! I was too young to remember the flight I took on a Turbofan aircraft. What I have noticed about The difference of Turbofan Aircraft's takeoffs, is that they seem to be much more steep than Turboprop aircraft takeoffs. So my question is, do the takeoffs feel steep in the Turbofan aircraft, or not due to the relative size of the plane compared to the turboprop planes?
Other than my question, Great Video! I would love to fly into Hawaii Some day! Thank you for giving me a idea of what It looks like!

I visited my Aunt and Uncle in Hawaii in 1990, they had a condo in Hilo on the main island! It was AWESOME! except for those little gecko things! It is a beautiful place to visit...except for the six hours over the pacific, and at that time they mostly flew DC10’s and 747’s. Would love to cruise there tho’!

These videos don't do justice as to just how huge the 777's GE90 engine really is. It's diameter is the full width of the fuselage of a Boing 737!

    • MobileAviation
      MobileAviation 7 months ago

+ART CORE Yeah 777-200ERs use the GE90-94B which sound great as well

    • ART CORE
      ART CORE 8 months ago

GE90's bigger. This is PW engine. 777-200 uses either PW, RR, or GE's. 777-300ER/200LR uses only GE90 115-B which sounds even better and bigger than PW.

Having "ridden along'"with you to the Pineapple State,I have to ask,was this routing the best you could do from Charlotte on United? Perhaps you were after the mileage for your FF account but just watching this series of flights,I'm exhausted! Judging from the seatback inflight map,it looks like it was getting dark in Charlotte as you landing in Honolulu--no telling what time your body clock said it was --did you have a vacation package for the Aulani Resort? Beautiful footage of the beach area--did you go during off-season,beach area recliner area was deserted.

Its really hard to beat those Hawaiian views... Was that 2-4-2 in a 777 business class cabin? That is pretty bad. United needs to get to the Standard 1-2-1 layout, even if its flying domestic.

Just looked at the 777 seat maps on United.com and the 777-200ER has 4 versions. Of the 4 versions 3 are in the 2-4-2 layout and one in the 2-2-2 layout. On Uniteds 777-300ER Polaris is indeed 1-2-1. United needs to retrofit and have all wide body business class seats in a 1-2-1 layout. Even their new 787's are in a 2-2-2 layout. Not competitive at all.

    • Kalei K
      Kalei K 9 months ago

I believe UA’s business class cabin on the 777 is 2-2-2....no? I know the new Polaris cabin layout is 1-2-1.
